Day Trip to Abiqua Falls, Oregon

We decided to take a list minute trip down to Oregon to visit and photograph Abiqua Falls. This waterfall is listed at 92' tall and you can find video online of kayakers going over the falls as well as some people jumping off the falls.
The volume of water was so high, that all the spots I wanted to set up were under water. It hailed on me and then started to rain while I was flying the drone. Still a successful outing.

"This trail is on private property, but it is open to the public for recreational use. When passing through private property easements and right-of-ways it is especially important to stay on the path and respect posted guidance. Local officials and private landowners work in partnership to provide public access to this area. Staying on the path while on private property ensures that agreements between local officials and the landowner are upheld and that this trail remains open to the public in the future. You may want to download the offline map before you go as the trail is reportedly not well marked.
Abiqua Falls Trail takes you to the beautiful waterfall Abiqua Falls within the Santiam State Forest. A good portion of this trail is along Abiquia Creek and along the rocks. Visitors have reported that there are not a lot of trail markers so you may want to bring the app or downloaded offline map with you.
If you have a high clearance vehicle you can drive the gravel road and park at a turnout located just past the sign/unofficial trailhead, located by the locked gate or in small nooks along the single lane dirt road. You can also park before the dirt road and walk to the trailhead. The trail is to the left just before the first gate and is clearly visible. There will be a big black and white sign explaining that this is private land and to play it safe.
Shortly after the big sign, the trail will seem to split. One path has a fallen tree crossing the trail, the other path to your right is well-traveled. Stay to your left and walk over the fallen tree. Shortly after you cross over the log you will see an identical black and white sign. You’ll see a long knotted rope anchored to the base of a small three. This is the trail you want to take. Further down the trail you’ll get to a point where two large trees have fallen down the parallel to one another, leading straight down to the river’s edge. There is a rope which leads down the entire length of these logs. This is the easiest way down to the valley floor. There are no bathrooms."

It was Thursday. We drove down Thursday morning, stayed the night in Woodburn and came home Friday. Tried to sneak in before the snow.

If you start to slide just curl up into a ball and gather points for hitting the most trees in the way down,and a flipper should hit you back up, gorgeous view and have a Happy New Year..💜
