Alec thanks for mentioning how long you've been carving. Your skill and talent is amazing. I found you through Doug who I watch faithfully also Gene and Kevin. Now you are added to the list. I'm still new and learning but hope to improve with practice. Your videos are greatly appreciated.

Dude i had so much fun trying to carve two of these chaps, and two of your small lighthouses! They’re not perfect but I made a video short of em for you tube, the white one looks like Zeus, I had to give him eyes eh!😂🙌 You inspire me sir, I tip my hat to a master carver, I’m Steve in belfast, love coffee and carving show, keep steaming that ship ahead bro, Ryan Olsen recently was awesome as last time😂🙌🇬🇧 All the best to you and yours eh🇨🇦

You are my favorite wood carver and one of my favorite you tubers. Videos are great but my phone tends to run out of battery, by chance would you have any paper type instructions? I would def buy books from you. Thankyou for sharing your art instruction!

Had a break from carving but keen to start again. I was making good progress. These videos as well as Doug and Ddalo are inspiring to us beginners. I hope someone else from the UK sees this and can advise of somewhere to source basswood/lime/linden. I'm finding it really expensive

Hey alec,could I ask, what would you charge for one of these wood spirits you carve? I love this sculpture, he looks like my husband! I would love to have one to study and copy. Do you sell them? You are the bast face carver!
@AlecLaCasseArt Жыл бұрын
Hey Carol, thanks! I haven’t sold a whittle like this before so I’d have to think about it! Sorry I don’t have a quick answer! These are usually just for fun!

@@AlecLaCasseArt totally understand, they are beautiful and I know you are busy, there might be other people out there who would like to buy, I know this could make you even busier, but it might be another source of income(?) Thankyou much for thinking about it. :)

Alec Enjoyed your demo on eyes ,always learning something every time I watch .Question ;) does the knife you used have a tiny radius on the tip ? When you make those ‘swooping’ cuts a fine pointed tip would have a chance to dig in or break off . Thanks for sharing 👍😇🇺🇸
@AlecLaCasseArt2 жыл бұрын
I hadn’t thought about the tip that way but It very well could be the case! I like a bit of a rounded tip

What's the best edge angle for carving/whittling knife?
@AlecLaCasseArt2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I’m not sure of the exact angle, but I like a fairly narrow blade with a Scandinavian grind!
