Brazilians not usually separate their relationships in different niches like *family / work's friends / college's friends / neighbors / dates...* people normally try to get all this together, specially to the social events. In the dating situation, the person you're dating have to go to the family events, like birthday parties and sunday's barbecue, to your friends meeting... and the same for you. If we like this person we want the people we love to like them too and vice versa. ☺️ Other thing that's important to say is that mostly brazilian parents are super friendly to your bf/gf and sometimes keep friends with them even if you break up 😅

@@chichisancanal ❤️😲 wow glad to hear that then. I may take this approach when i have a teen child that's ready to start dating. My parents didn't want me to date like at all, ever so any relationship i had i had to keep secret. Or they'd just yell at me to break up with them. No reason just i wasn't allowed to date. You could see how having to sneak date someone could lead to potentially very dangerous situations especially for a teen girl. I'd rather take this more involved approach cuz teens are gonna do what they want and I'd rather have open honest relationship so i can still help protect my child. Any sorry for long winded reply. Thank you. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

@@loryndabenson2118 I think that's precisely why Brazilian parents "watch" their children in a friendly way. Keeping track of your son or daughter's relationship allows you to see if everything is ok, if he is a nice person or not.

@@eternalptgmx Are you talking about the italian mafioso and irish gangs? Guess what they aren't considered white in that time period. only northern europeans besides the irish were considered white definitely not italians, fonzi was considered a "token" character in the 50s on happy days. Kind of weird how the further back you go the MORE racist countries get. You should look up sir fredrick douglas, a black man who wrote on how the english treated the irish in the early 20th century. the whole concept of every european being white came about in the 1990s, pushed by hollywood so they would have a clear cut enemy, if you ask a random american to tell the diffrence between someone of irish or norweigen descent, most can't tell. so they had to make every eruopean "white" even though at NO point in history was europe ever united saying oh yea we love all europeans from the volga river to the west coasts or ireland and spain! We're all white brothers guys! Check out films from before the 60's with sex love rock and roll and drugs. back when the catholic league decided the film's ratings, not the MPAA. youll see plenty of people calling irish and italians less than people. But considering the average person from ANY country only takes history as a requirement, it's not surprising that you lack knowledge. Even the KKK killed not just negros surprise surprise! But catholics as well! now tell me which two european groups did i just mention that were european but CATHOLIC? Oh yeah the irish and italians. America was racist to anyone who was not a "WASP" (White American Southern Protestant.).

Actually in Brazil before people start to call themselves a "couple" there's usually a lot of whater under the bridge. People go out, meet each other and keep going on dates, even hooking up, for months even, until one of the parts says "Are we a couple?" Or "do you wanna be my boy/girlfriend?". So by the time your a couple you actually know the other person for quite a while. Even in social situation, people invite someone their "Seeing" at the time, and people are like "are you guys in a relationship? No, we're just knowing eche other". So to be a couple both parts need to be aware of it, like someone needs to literally ask for it, other wise you guys are not exclusive.

American food service always gives as much ice as possible in any beverage not made to be hot. The more ice in the drink, the less product they use. Ice machines use electric to make the ice, but when you're monthly electric bill is as high as a restaurants, it's not noticeable. It is also against the law not to provide cold water to anyone who asks for it, so long as business is running as usual.

I think that in Brazil the ice thing, in general, is not very necessary because establishments tend (or at least try) to keep drinks as cold as possible. I think it's more common for juices and drinks, because if it melts it doesn't change the flavor of the drink too much, but for soft drinks it gets complicated. I remembered that many foreigners find it strange that we are not very fond of iced coffee, and even though most of the time it is very hot, we drink hot coffee even during the day. It's like the ice situation even in winter.

I think I could say that here in the Philippines, it's also common to introduce a person to your family during the early days of dating, similarly to Brazil. Most of the time, it's more of like gaining the trust of the family or asking the family whether he/she could date the child from the said family and actually build relationship with the parents as well (but as expected, this is also difficult in breaking up, it's like breaking up with your partner's family too). Though I also understand it from the viewpoint in Korea or States. It's just cool to see the differences too! anyway, I enjoyed today's video as well PD님! ♡

Ana is a bit out of date, here in Rio de Janeiro and in São Paulo, you do have the right to ask for water for free, you just have to order "filtered water" or "house water" (água da casa), which would be an expression for a glass of water from that estabilishment, I do that everywhere for plenty of years already, probably more than 5 years, but that's because brazilians, mostly, weren't aware of that law, but it does exists ever since 1995, when it was approved. When me and my friends go to the bar around here the first thing we ask is filtered water, so usually they already come with a full jar and a few glasses.

I've never tried asking for water in restaurants, but in some smaller cities here in Brazil (in the Northeast, not sure if it goes in the other states) it's not uncommon to get free coffee. Not necessarily in restaurants, sometimes in gas stations and stores. Though I must say it's a dying habit, some 15 years ago you'd get offered coffee anywhere you'd go.

My ex-wife lived with her father when we started dating, so when I went to pick her up for our 1st date, I met him also, and more or less saw him any time I went to take her on a date. The rest of her family lived out of state, though they eventually moved to be with the dad after his contract job became full time, so then I started seeing them when I'd go get her also. My current wife lived on her own when we began dating, but on the night of our 1st date she was attending a family gathering at her parents' home in the afternoon, so I picked her up there and met her whole family, though I didn't see any of them again until after we got engaged.

In the US, it all depends on the family dynamic as to when someone is introduced to family. Like Brazil...we want to know what kind of person our loved one is seeing, and whether or not they are a threat or danger to them. Most meetings will take place at a public place, or event...but many happen at home events, as well...such as 4th of July BBQs or something. In southern culture (old-fashioned values, still), it is a requirement for the boy/man to come to the door, introduce himself to dad (who answers the door) and chat with each other (sus each other up) as the girl continues to ready herself for the date. I'm sure you've heard of the proverbial daddy sitting on the porch in his rocking chair with a double barrel shotgun, asking, "What time did you say you were bringing her home? Don't be late. I'll be waiting.". lol And to ask the father for the girl's hand in marriage (permission) BEFORE he proposes to the girl. Also, if your loved one isn't bringing their date around, it is cause for concern...that there is a reason they're not...because they KNOW that their family would NOT APPROVE. However, with the number of households without fathers, this is becoming less common. However, there are still mom's that wear those daddy boots and will sit in that same chair, same shotgun, and attitude when it comes to their kids and who they're dating.

About the axing part, Im a brazillian myself and waxing per say isnt actually a must, the method I mean... but we do have a strong tendency to get hairless at least on the armpits and on the "neatherlands". Most guys use a razor or prestobe while some do wax, but most girls (at least the ones I've known) prefer wax cuz razor can cause skin irritations. and some even go further into laser... though it's a bit pricey

The title is backwards lol. It should be "Weird Things Westerners Do That Koreans May Never Understand." I think one of the reasons they don't serve tap water by default in France is because (according to my French host mother) in most places around the country, the tap water isn't good to drink unfiltered. Also, I did get (lukewarm) carafe when going out to eat a few times, but even that we had to pay for. As for the ice in America... What can we say? It's hot in many places, and many of our drinks are made to be served cold. Lukewarm coke isn't that great, you know? Another thing you should be aware of, especially in the South, is that if you just order "tea" and don't specify "hot tea," it's coming to you iced and probably sweet. If you want hot tea, you have to say so!
@flpReges

Interesting. In Brazil it's rare for us to drink unfiltered tap water too, we regularly buy 20L bottles of mineral water even at home (at least where I live). This is curious, as we have the highest freshwater resources in the world, but I believe it is a custom that arrived when sanitation was not yet well developed, and that has stayed. We usually don't trust the water treatment process either, as some substances and metals can pass through them. Not sure, it's an assumption.

In my part of america it's totally normal to introduce someone you've just started dating to your family. It's not seen as like, a formal, serious step or anything like it is in movies. It's just like, normal? For your family to know the people in your life? whether that's friends are partners.

There is actually a subculture in Brazil where people get naked while they're on waterfalls and wild places far from cities. In Germany that also exists, they have designated pkaces for nudity where you can see whole family members totally naked all together. Grandparents, mom and dad and kids, everyone naked, it's called FKK (Frei Korper Kultur, or free body culture).

I thought canada would be the same as the US. here it's not a big deal bringing someone you're dating to family stuff. My nephew in highschool brings his girlfriend to family stuff all the time.

Most cold drinks when you order them in the US will come with ice but not all. For example, I can't imagine anyone serving cold beer or wine with ice in it, and orange juice almost never comes with ice but I have seen it (but I think it's an accident!).

I agree for the most part but spitting isn’t common nor uncommon it just happens in some places and doesn’t in others but I completely disagree with the Americans not introducing who they’re dating until later. Especially if you live with your parents it’s normal to hang out with whoever you’re dating at your house. Even if you don’t most people I know will tell their family as soon as they even start liking someone so they introduce them right away. I guess I also know a lot of people who don’t though so I’d say it probably just depends on the specific person I think I was probably most shocked about the common showers! Everything here is always separate. Girls, boys, and usually family. Family is mostly for anyone with a baby or multiple young kids but other people tend to use it too since it’s more private.
