What I hate about the whole ancient alien thing is that they think ancient people were fucking incompetent to do anything by themselves. They on one hand vastly overestimate the the quality and complexity of ancient structures and then attribute them to someone else. Those ancient people weren't dumber than us, they just had worse technology and not as much understanding of physics. We humans are creative if we want to do something and most of those structures are perfectly doable by skilled craftsmen with bronze tools. Definitely a lot of exhausting work but doable. Give those people who worked their asses of all those centuries ago some credit.

The Baghdad Battery is the name given to a set of three artifacts which were found together. Consistting of a ceramic pot, a tube of copper, and a rod of iron. It was discovered in present-day Khujut Rabu, Iraq in 1936, close to the metropolis of Ctesiphon, the capital of the Parthian (150 BC - 223 AD) and Sasanian (224-650 AD) empires, and it is believed to date from either of these periods. A model was tested and they found that when filled with vinegar - orany other electrolytic solution - the jar produces about 1.1 volts. Lined up in series it produces just enough voltage to do electroplating on metals. At least actual scientist's believe this was what these batteries were used for. Which is actually how electroplating is done in Iraq today. The first light bulb we know of took 110 volts. Made by Thomas Edison. The pyramids were constructed between about roughly 2700 B.C. and 1500 B.C. Yeah you can all do the math on that timeline difference. But needless to say the Baghdad Battery wasn't even invented at the time of the construction of the pyramids. Nor was it invented in Egypt. Nor have any Baghdad Batteries ever been found in Egypt.
@IONATVS6 ай бұрын
And the electroplating theory is one of like 5 theories generally considered “equally viable” by archeologists of the period and area. One other does legitimately conclude it was a battery, just used for a different reason, but the other 3 note that the components that make them seem like a battery were not all found with the same jars, and no jar was found with all of them, and conclude it was related to storing or destroying papyrus scolls-which were also found in similar jars.
@John2r16 ай бұрын
@IONATVS True but none of the logical theories have them being used to power electric lights. Because to put it simply they don't produce enough electrical current to be used for that purpose.
@IONATVS6 ай бұрын
@@John2r1 oh absolutely. the main other electrical theory has them being used similarly to leden jars in the enlightenment period-mostly as novelties for the curious polymath.

Someone else already gave a comment about the Baghdad Battery, but let me add that Minuteman actually did an episode on it and it involved interviewing an actual archaeologists who was an expert on the subject. Its worth watching. Also for April 1st he and a friend got high and created a complex conspiracy theory about the Bass Pyramid. That is also great watch.

When you were in school the oldest civilization was likely told as being babylon or assyria, then it was sumeria iirc. Nowadays we also know of norte chico and some of the ancient andean civilizations which are truly ancient, the indus valley civilizations and their connections to even older persian and siberian ancestor civilizations which have potential to be even more a root of civilization than the fertile crescent as we have thought for ages.

You know whats interesting with the spinx enclosure? They recently have been re examining it and they suspect that it might actually be a little older than previously thought, they also suspect that it may have had a twin facing opposite of it (as is common in most of egyptian culture) which was eroded basically to nothing by the movement of the nile.

That’s my MAIN and HUGE issue with graham Hancock - he works outwards in as in he makes the hypothesis he WANTS to be true and then crams his “proof” into his theories that could even mildly support it, basically using the scientific method backwards to make him “correct.” ANY scientists work from a crafting hypothesis and work outwards to challenge it, change it, rework the thesis, and oh my god the scientific theory we learned at 8 years old 🙄 Remember kids, think horses not zebras, and just because it looks like it doesn’t mean it is. And PLEASE. PLEASE! Check your S O U R C E S. Rant over: love the fat electrician shirt, and love the content. Highly underrated youtuber 💜

I appreciate your curiosity and willingness to learn! Hope you do more of these reactions! Edit: Ahh...sorry. I wanna be perfectly clear that I didn't think *you* believed in a pre-Ice Age civilization. I phrased that poorly. The part about the "pre-Ice Age" civilization was me being slightly confused on the meaning of some terms. Hancock thinks his civilization was around 14000 years ago during a brief warm pulse at the end of the Ice Age, before a cold pulse wiped them out, and then things began warming more regularly. That's my bad for calling it "pre-Ice Age" and I'm not sure why I called it that, to be frank.

@RipOffProductionsLLC7 ай бұрын
Well, he uses Atlantis as proof of how Ancient Aliens/ancient advanced humans theories are racist because it gives whites credit as the advanced culture that helped the browns/blacks or whatever... Though I'd also argue that there aren't that many ancient sites in Europe that could get an Ancient Aliens spin besides Stonehenge, nothing else is old enough.
@peggedyourdad95607 ай бұрын
Eh, doesn't count since a lot of conspiracy theories believe that Atlantis was the origin of the master race of mankind, specifically the white master race. This was popularized by the Nazis.

@RipOffProductionsLLC7 ай бұрын
I have one issue with his assertion at 28:40 -ish, about how Ancient Aliens theories are inherently racist because they never talk about Ancient European constructions... there aren't any Ancient European magolithic sites on par with the things like the Pyramids Stonehenge is the exception, and as he said, they talk about that one. Hell, I'm pretty sure I've seen Ancient Aliens stuff on the Greeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's no shortage of racists who have contributed to AA theories, especially early on in the concept's development, but there isn't a lot of European archeology that it could attach to anyway...
