While viewers around the world will be eagerly anticipating the arrival of series five of The Crown, the mood behind Palace walls seems far from happy. Early indications suggest that the new episodes, covering Diana’s departure from the Royal Family and untimely death will paint the Firm in the worst possible light. It couldn’t come at a worse time for our new King, argues the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden.
‘It’s awful because it’s really focusing on the lowest, the worst part of his life, just at the start of what should be a happy period, really, being king, yes his mother’s died, but it’s a new start,’ he tells our royal talk show Palace Confidential. ‘Instead, it’s dragging all this up again, leading up to the tragic death of Diana so it’s going to be grim. He’s just got to grin and bear it.’ The Mail on Sunday’s Assistant Editor Kate Mansey says friends of the King are extremely unhappy about the prospect of the new storylines.
‘It was described to me by one very senior friend of the King that it’s trolling on a Hollywood budget,’ she tells the programme. ‘That’s what you’re seeing: it’s slick, it’s magnificent, but Charles is presented as a callous, horrible, feckless husband, it plays to the script to make it very dramatic that he’s the baddie, Diana’s the goodie and that’s how it was. And there’ll be some people who believe that and that’s the danger.’

I did write to Netflix today to endorse all calls for a disclaimer to be put up before each episode of TC airs. I am German, I've watched all 40 episodes so far with great pleasure, I even bought the DVD sets. But I am acutely aware that some viewers might take all the - mainly ficticious - storytelling for the real stuff and then will go on social media with a lot of hatespeech aimed at King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla for being such vile people (as quite falsely portrayed in TC). The reason Harry's wife refers to him as "my husband" is because she is erasing him, minimizing him for the purpose of promoting herself to center stage. She also calls him "aitch," reducing him from Harry to literally one letter. In the same way, she referred to the late Queen, in her latest interview with Variety, as "the matriarch of the family" rather than the Queen. Same motivation and typical of a narcissist, which she is.

But for the past 70 years + people have known Prince Charles as a prince and in his capacity as POW he has been very prominent in the public for decades and referred to as both Prince Charles and Charles. I watched the first two seasons of the crown and then as a 'history buff' I soon realised it was fiction and a glorified soap and stopped watching. It's interesting that Meghan is now trying to distance herself from their Netflix special; are H&M now both trying to protect their Royal titles? I'm still very much disgusted by how Harry treated his grandparents - releasing the Ophra interview and not visiting HM the Queen before she died when they were both in the UK.

I cancelled my Netflix membership - the Crown has been steadily getting nastier and uglier over the last few years (perhaps as they get closer to material I was around for, so the degree of BS they are putting out is more obvious to me, or something). Virginia made us believe that picture was geniune.. as she stated in the 60 mins Australia episode on Epstein.. that episode is here on you tube.. just watched it the other day. BUT when they went into discovery in preparation for the trial.. Andrew's legal team asked for the original picture.. it's important to check the time line in this instance.. & what the accuser said she will never do.. SETTLE. Andrew's legal team asked on a thursday.. late afternoon West coast time.. by Friday.. Accuser's legal team replied.. they do not have the original.. I thought.. hmm.. curious.. & interesting.. By Monday/Tues the following week.. Accuser settled out of court.. What does that told us?? According to Lady c.. she settled for a 5 figure sum.. that could be from 10,000-99,000 USD.. meanwhile.. we haven't heard from the accuser since..

Elizabeth Pengson, I'm glad you mentioned the photograph. As I recall, VG said it was at home in a box under her bed or something like and she really wasn't sure of its location. This was astounding to me. She based just about her whole case against Andrew on that photo and she didn't have it in a safe deposit box under lock and key? It boggles the mind. I'm not victim shaming, but never have I thought that VG was an innocent victim. You are very smart about the timeline. More people should have paid attention! It's funny that yes, we haven't another word from her. What happened to all of the other important public people that she made reference to - but did not name - in her interviews? I hope someone does a documentary on VG and maybe we'll finally learn the real truth.
