Ya, he have his "helpful finger" in Netflix scenario about Diana, Charles & Camila. I hope Palace will sue Netflix. Because William as well is Diana son, and he explicitly told that he not what that his mother is trusting around.. So if Netflix follow Harry's memories (?) William is older and Harry is 5th in line but William is 1st , so...?!

I could be wrong, but didn’t Diana dismiss her royal protection officers herself? Hasn’t Ken Wharfe said that he advised her not to, and she did it anyway? Why is it being repeated that Diana’s protection was taken away when she lost her HRH? Please clarify.

Diana had dispensed with the Met police because Martin Bashir and the BBC had wound her up by showing her forged documents. Among which was the libelous "Tiggy pregnant by Charles" plus an intimation that the RF was plotting to kill her. Without Bashir & BBC, Diana would've had Met police protection and would still be alive.

You are aware that Harry has wanted out of the working family for years right? His wife becoming suicidal due to tabloid bullying and the lack of family support as Harry saw it made the step-back from senior working royal status easier. Meghan has said that “… it didn’t have to be this way” and I believe her. William and Charles have the UK, CW stage to themselves but have lost their royal scapegoat.

that's abuse (manipulation) did. it started since they were dating with the victim narrative that she is like diana, not let him meet her family to keep him in blind for anything about her ( and only had a version that she told him) and the final straw isolated him from his closed friends and make him believe he only has her. it is them against the world.

Princess Anne said in an interview...that there was a very different way a nanny treats the heir and the other child. It was said with a wry smile and almost an eye roll. So SHE KNOWS how it feels,and how others may treat "extras" less than.....yet she has all taken it in stride and made a great life and EARNED the love and respect of the world regardless. Why in the hell did H not speak to her about how to master his lot in life!!!!!! I'll tell youShe would say.."Get ocer it and get on with it!" Not what he wanted to hear. She is no nonsense. Takes what life gives her..and runs with it! She has what it takes to be a self satisfied human being. I do not believe it's true that the proceeds from Harry's book are going to charity. I have heard that approximately £1.5M out of profits has been promised to Sentebale and several hundred thousand, also after profits, to Well Child. I would like to hear if that's your understanding or not and, if so, how "profits" are defined -- i.e., are profits calculated after Harry's fees, signing fee, etc. have been netted out of proceeds.

Interesting comment made that Princess Ann was once the "spare". She was only the spare until Andrew was born, at which time he became the spare to Charles. I know things have since changed, but when we hear about the entitled, petulant behaviour of Andrew, much like Harry's, perhaps being considered the "spare" contributes to that sense of entitlement.
@racheeerach
@racheeerach Жыл бұрын
It seems as if Margaret was also petulant and entitled. I firmly believe this attitude has to do with being “the spare”. These people are raised to believe they will have a large role in history without having to fall into the same line as the future monarch. Then, later in life they learn what their real place is, and that’s behind the future monarch and all of their children. I don’t blame Harry for leaving or for being upset about how his life has turned out. I blame him for being a whiny hypocrite. 🤷‍♀️

Didn't the term Spare in reference to Harry stem from his mother? She was the one who adressed him like that in the media and no doubt how he knew about being a 'spare' from a young age. I wonder if he'll include that fact in the book. He's out out to make his mother a saint and everyone else in his family a villian. Correction Diana didn't have the police protection after her divorce because she refused it. It was offered to her and in her paranoia she refused it because she felt they were spies. Harry was the "spare" as in, privileged son of the Prince of Wales, now King Charles, without the responsibility of William. As for proceeds going to charity, only a portion are going to charities and it's only a small percentage. I've little doubt that Meghan "educated" Harry about how being "the spare" was insulting to him. I won't be watching The Crown this season. It is distasteful and hurtful, and as an American I'm embarrassed that it is an American production doing it.

This was an excellent episode! Everything was discussed in a calm, respectful, and reasonable manner. I agree with Rebecca English that Netflix has taken way too much liberty with the story line in The Crown. It began as historical fiction, but so many plot lines take so much liberty with the actual events that it should ditch the historical bit. It's amazing that for all their money and privilege, the royals get absolutely no respect or consideration. What recourse do they have? It is awful the way that their privacy is invaded and their stories violated. And sadly, this is not a new development. Just take a quick look at the 18th century cartoons lampooning the kings. The difference now is that it's not a local but an international situation. There is no privacy, no respite, no escape, and the royals are supposed to just take it. I truly pity them.

Yes Diana lost her HRH title and the paid for top level 24/7 Royal Police Protection after her divorce. She also chose not to put in place personal Police Protection once she was no longer with Charles as she always hated the invasion into her personal life and wanted to be left alone. Ken Wharfe her former personal body guard speaks of how Diana would not accept Police Protection after her divorce apart from when she was out with her boys or doing official public engagements.

@@peteregan7864 Not at all. That is how it went down . There are many interviews by former staff and close friends who know first hand what happened when Charles and Diana divorced, as well as books written by well respected Royal authors, documentary's, highly respected Royal News Correspondents who have reported on the Royals for 20 years and the public who were around at the time who remember what happened. It is social media that tries to change history

@@peteregan7864 That is not what I was referring to. The point I was picking up on was that Diana lost her "Royal" Police Protection at the same time as she lost her HRH after the divorce. She did not refuse it she lost it. Later as a single independent woman, according to her body guard Ken Wharfe, she wouldn't agree to setting herself up with a personal security team because of the invasion into her privacy, fear of people betraying her and reporting back to Charles' 'camp' etc
