The opening scene to 3D Adventures of Sailor Moon kinda looks like something out of Robot Chicken tbh

Thanks I am not entirely sure how I came up with the idea but it's a really neat thing to have going in the background. I tried really hard to make it seem like Windows 95/98 while still looking very Sailor Moon. I actually have a bunch of fake ads and AOL chats that I can sort though for different videos just to keep things fresh.

I happen to be quite fond of the Dic dub intro, but I otherwise agree with most of the sentiments here. It's interesting to me to learn that Dic wasn't alone in changing the names of characters/creating a different intro. I wonder if other regional dubs also changed up the music and added small animation flourishes too? It would probably be interesting to watch a comparison video on the nature of the different language dubs.
@SimpsanSimpai10 ай бұрын
To me the English theme is nothing more than a bad translation of the original I would have much preferred they try to create an original theme as was the style of the time. I've read a bit about some of the dub differences in a few different languages and have been told that they were either true or false so information is a bit spotty. I'd love to be able to do a comparison but I think that requires fluency in those languages to a degree I lack.
@albatross177910 ай бұрын
@@SimpsanSimpai Here is a direct translation of the Moonlight Densetsu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5iQaXiXq5uImqM If accurate, I do not see it all in the Dic intro, which I am certain I would if there was even an attempt at translating it, even if it was bad. The Dic intro copies the original beat to an extent, and has the word "moonlight" in it, but I do not think either is sufficient to consider it a translation of any kind, as it is a wholly original composition lyrically with an an entirely different focus. I can see why some might be thrown off by the similar beat though. I definitely understand not being able to do a dub comparison video without some linguistic background in all of those languages. I watched a video once where people from different countries compared Pokemon names. Too bad Sailor Moon likely isn't quite prolific enough to get similar treatment. It would be fun and informative, though would also likely involve a lot of collaboration and research.
@SimpsanSimpai10 ай бұрын
The music sounds pretty similar to me so I always assumed the English version is a derivative of the original. I think it's safe to say that it's very blatantly identical despite certain bits of difference it's the "Ice Ice Baby" to "Under Pressure" debate 😆. While it's not a direct translation or more than likely not even attempted at one Andy Heyward's lyrics just aren't all that good in my opinion and the composer even said they used the same melody. Andy clearly wrote the lyrics around the music (as you do) but it just feels like it misses the mark when compared. It's not a direct translation like "La Leyenda de la Luz de Luna" it wanted to be it's own thing but isn't it's too close to original to not be compared. I can see why people like it after all I grew up with it too but I just think it's not good. Sorry for the long post.
@albatross177910 ай бұрын
@@SimpsanSimpai It's all good, and to each their own. I mean sure, it isn't that deep bruh, especially in comparison to the original. Also, the lyrics are flat out wrong in places. She runs from fights all the time, especially in the early episodes, including the one the footage for that part of the intro is pulled from. She can be depended on with help, I suppose. None of that makes for catchy lyrics though. In addition to the nostalgia factor though, I like what making the original tune a guitar riff does, and the song sounds fun and upbeat, which is good enough for me. Plus, there's something to be said for a song I still remember decades later, so there's that too. Call it a guilty pleasure if you'd like, as that's probably an apt description, but I do still like it to this day even though it's objectively not as good as the Moonlight Densetsu.

Sad to see this franchise just sell mediocre tie ins with Fire Striker, Zepeto and another recent one I forgot but not really worth remembering cause it will be forgotten and preserved only in wiki fan pages. It had that mobile game Moon Drops getting cancelled sometime in 2017 or 2018 if I recall correctly. It also had that Luna DLC skin with Capcom's Monster Hunter and that is the closest thing it would be getting in the mainstream market. Even with a community growing with the Sailor Moon S fighting game Bandai Namco wasn't interested in a revival.
@SimpsanSimpai9 ай бұрын
Honestly I can't tell if it's a PNP decision or if it's a Bandai decision to not make games for the franchise anymore. There's quite a few low investment type games that could yield huge profit margins for the series that they aren't even looking into. Hell I've even thought of a few pitches that I might make a video on that aren't my ideal fan game but realistic avenues PNP could take to see a significant return.

I mean, if you're a fan of the series, surely you're not ignorant to the DiC dub and all of its ... Eccentricities... "Sailor Scouts" was a DiC brainchild because "soldiers are bad". The music was the DiC opening, also.

@@SimpsanSimpai then why not allude to the notoriety of the DiC dub for the verbiage they chose rather than using the phrase "Their words, not mine" which has a tone of ignorance? A cheeky comment about the DiC dub would be well received with how notorious it is, and solidify oneself as cultured in all things SM.
