I watched a show on Netflix yesterday, The Movies That Made Us, and one of the episodes is Elf. That show is actually pretty good. I have seen this movie several times and never connected that it pays homage to the old Rankin/Bass movies. In England they show The Great Escape every Christmas, I don't know if they still do as I haven't lived there for almost thirty years, starring Steve McQueen and many more well known actors.

Yeah, I really like 'The Movies that Made Us' too -- and 'The Toys That' My gripe about it is that they go way overboard on every movie with the 'THIS MOVIE ALMOST DIDN'T GET MADE' and such. But still, good docu-show.

Why does The Great Escape get shown during christmas time? I love that movie but I really don't think about christmas when I think about that movie lol

Will Ferrell actually got constant headaches from all the sugary stuff he had to eat while making this. He's normally a very healthy eater with a low tolerance for sugar. (For the record, the "cotton balls" he ate were actually cotton candy.)

One of the things that made me laugh so hard was seeing Will Ferrell 6’4” trying to use the Elf facilities. You know that probably happens to him IRL. 😂❤️💚

Blades of Glory has Will Ferrell as one of the main characters and is hilarious. It would be a great winter time movie to watch after Jinglebeans!

Hiya Ashleigh, you came highly recommended from Brennan 'The Bass Player' channel, so after I watched your intro video, I took the dive and subscribed, and watched your reaction to Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein, and proceeded to laugh my butt off! (I saw that in the theater when it first came out, so you can at least guess how old I am) Still one of my favorite movies of all time! Glad you're getting to experience all these classics for the first time!😁👍

I remember my dad absolutely hated this movie for YEARS and I followed his example, being a dumb teenager. I got to see this at a friend's house and I absolutely love it to bits.

Lol why did he hate it so much?

Santa and the Dad elf are huge parts of one of the best "must watch tv" nights ever: Saturday nights on CBS in the mid 70's: All in the Family, MASH, Mary Tyler Moore Show with Ed Asner (Santa), Bob Newhart Show (dad elf), and the Carol Burnett Show. Newhart and Asner have been in so much but will always be remembered for those shows.

I love you're sense of humour You definitely made me laugh more than the movie😂😂 fun fact: his reaction to the Jack in the box at the start of the movie is 100% genuine. The jack in the box was rigged up to a remote control that the director had so he had no idea when it would go off thus giving a genuine reaction to it😁 small but fun little detail.

Elf is the new aged staple of a holiday movie, makes you feel a bit sad but then brings you to that happy place that many of us need this time of year. (Side Note: Peter Dinklage who played Miles Finch in Elf was in the Game of Thrones Series as Tyrion Lanister). I am SOOOO looking forward to seeing you watch Nightmare Before Christmas!!! I've watched that movie year after year from Halloween up until (and probably after) Christmas. Plus I even have my own little Nightmare before Christmas tree set up so my viewers can see it. I have been a Tim Burton fan since I was a boy, and I really hope you will become another Nightmare Before Christmas addict! 🖖😎🎄

There's a movie theater here that shows Elf (and a few other movies) as a Quote-Along so anybody at anytime will say the movie lines out loud - or sign along. It's so much fun.

I watch Elf every Christmas. Still makes me laugh, smile and cry. I'm so excited for you to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas! I still remember getting the vhs on my 6th birthday. My mom and me watch it every Halloween and Christmas. One of my favorite stop motion movies are "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", and "A Year without a Santa Clause." Then I watch "Rudolph's Shiny New Year" for New Years.
