I would prefer to keep it state to state. Because what does Connecticut have in common with California? For the federal government to manage a re-opening plan for a country the size of United States it would inevitably fall to local authorities to determine when and what to do. That is just the nature of federalism. “I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much Liberty than those attending too small a degree of it.” Thomas Jefferson.

Watching this in 2023 just with the intention to catch up on CR content for kicks and ngl . . . this was kind of hard to get through. It came flooding back, everything we were going through in July of 2020, how confused I was, how scared I was, also how unified we all felt in that sense of displacement and isolation. In 2020 I was starting my last year of university. In 2023, I'm two years into a corporate job living in a different city, applying for a job across an ocean. On one hand it just feels like the passage of time, on the other hand I can't believe how we were all in that situation together, stuck and confused and lonely and creative and with our families and grateful and scared. A complete paradigm shift that seems so passe now

It is also a really good movie. I watched it in a movie theatre with some friends and there was a gang of skinheads in the front rows, rowdy and loud as the movie starts with a racist assault. The movie portrays the horrors of racism, white supremacy and violence without pulling the punches. Not a feelgood movie, but a good one.

Damn, I am kinda shocked that just running seems like such a bad idea in some places. Things are pretty safe over here, it's weird how much of a difference there can be from place to place. Though I did live in a pretty bad neighbourhood once and what worked for me - Don't walk/run at midnight or 1 am or so early night in general, instead do it at 3-4 AM. Most people get bored, drunk or tired by then so things are much more chill. I had to walk from/to my girlfriend at the time (had no car or bike or anything) for about 50 minutes in a pretty shit neighbourhood back then and that's what worked best to avoid any danger. But ofc I don't recommend trying it alone it's not a guarantee it works over there.

Finally catching up with AWNP but HECK YES! The Midnight is awesome! Glad you you've heard about them Travis. When Matt was on he mentioned music he's been listening to and The Midnight seems right up his alley too. glad more people are listening to The Midnight's music. Favorite band of mine right now

It's so funny because I got into The Midnight during quarantine and hearing the CritRole peeps talk about them is really cool.

Sometimes I forget that Travis is a big intimidating man and then he says shit like "go on a run alone at night " and I'm just like sir that is a death sentence for me.

I'd like to thank y'all for around the 18:00 mark; that really did help me, I've been struggling with that exact problem.

10:35 at this point i would like to quote a wise, very large, very angry man: "I have seven intelligence, I know what I'm doing!"

Hearing them talk about going walk/running in their neighborhood, especially at night sounds fantastic, but it is very scary for me. The paranoia for me is extremely high recently, even at the park by my house is a non-starter.

Give it a shot. Small run at first, then start increasing gradually. Push yourself just a bit beyond comfort each time. It's freeing to outgrow such fears.

@Cole Depends on where you are. OP made is seem like is was irrational to not want to run at night. And remember anyone can die anywhere at anytime. Nothing is 100% safe. But we can make pretty "safe" decisions.

This inspired me to go back and listen to the back catalog of AWNP from 2012. "Sam, we'll call your son Donald Trump, and we'll call my daughter Romper Stomper." It's amazing how these things age.
