Game developers will often put assets out of the players view until they are needed which explains that missile. Sometimes they are stored underground, within other things or sometimes right around corners. Also I hope that Taco Bell didn't have anything to do with you being sick. Glad you're back in good health.

Yep it's so that all of the assets can be loaded at once instead of having to do so later while the game is running. In a VR game where pop in would be almost game breaking and most systems are stretched to their limit doing this makes a lot of sense.

for the missile, theres a youtube channel called shesez that just looks at the out of bound secrets of games, like enemies just popping in and how in game cutscenes play out without the illusion
