God bless you, Johnny, I just posted the 89th "like" and I just happened to do a 305 mile run from Whistler, B.C., Canada to Seattle, WA, with a stop in Victoria, B.C. in between in 19-89, the very first International run, that "hardly" anybody has ever heard of!!!!! I'm trying to get enough pictures etc. together to make a video, I will probably have to get them from microfilm reels from the main library and hopefully radio stations (ABC radio) keep live interviews from '89 on a reel as I was interviewed when I finished my run at Lake Union, that would be great to get a copy of it if they still have it stored,, anyway's, if I can put it together, I truly hope that it can be of some help!!!

When I was eight or nine , 'The Rifleman' was one of my favorite shows , among many others . 'Felix the Cat' , 'Sonny and Cher Hour' , Laugh In' , 'The Wild , Wild West' , 'The Immortal Man' , 'The Ed Sullivan Show' , just to name a few .... ..... ..... Then , when I was fifteen , I went to see Hot Tuna midnight @ the Palladium in N.Y.C. Thanksgiving show . Time marches on .... Three years ago , I ran into Jorma and told him that I first saw them at that show when I was a kid . He smiled and said , "You're still a kid !".
@AmericasChoice5 жыл бұрын
@@evanwolf6618 Yes it, does. My sister and I enjoyed that era of TV, too. I hit every Hot Tuna show at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ '74-76 and some more in NYC. I saw Jorma solos acoustic and even with his woeful band, Vital Parts. A Law School buddy owned one of Jorma's Martin acoustics Jorma had to sell during his divorce in 1983. I saw Hot Tuna a few times in Boulder, Colorado but they had Falsarano with them and it just wasn't the same. I met Jorma at a guitar shop in Denver about 12 years back and told him the Power Trio era of 1974-77 was their best phase. He told me he hated that period and would never play like that again. Of course, now he is bringing back that electric format and touring with it. I play guitar and can perform a pretty good "Water Song", which I think is his best composition. Peace.
@evanwolf66185 жыл бұрын
@@AmericasChoice Wow. Yeah ,The Capitol ! One long ,curved perfect 'orchestra' ! ... I can understand how Jack and Jorma would not look back at those days so lovingly. I believe they abused themselves to play an early show and then a late show for 5 1/2 hours . Amphetamines were most likely involved , along with the quarts of booze by each of their side which would most likely disappear before the end of the night !! The Bob Steeler days were the best , although I never saw them with Papa John Creech . I did see Creech when Starship played Central Park (free concert , I had to cut school for that one!). Red Octopus. I guess you know that Bob Steeler played for Elvis . That's why he was so good . Elvis always had the best !!
@AmericasChoice5 жыл бұрын
@@evanwolf6618 Steeler was the best Hot Tuna drummer. I never saw Papa John live unfortunately. One thing that saved Jorma and Jack from the destruction that happened to so many was the fact they didn't tour all year long. Jorma's wife was Swedish, so they would spend the winters in Sweden. I have heard Jorma say that the record companies hated that they would leave for the winter, but that it probably saved their lives. The first song on America's Choice was written about being in Sweden in the winter.

Sadly - Actor, singer, musician, and bandleader Johnny Crawford passed away on April 29th, 2021. He was seventy-five years old... He was best known for playing Mark McCain on the ABC-TV weekly western era series 'The Rifleman', it aired from 1958 to 1963 and he appeared in all 168 episodes... At the age of 13, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for 'Best Supporting Actor' for his work on the show... In 1955 he was one of the original Mouseketeers on Walt Disney's 'Mickey Mouse Club', he was cut after its first season due to a reduction in the size of the cast... Between 1961 and 1964 the Los Angeles, California native had eight records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, one made the Top 10, "Cindy's* Birthday", it peaked at #8 {for 2 weeks} in June of 1962 and spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... He had two Top 20 records, "Your Nose Is Gonna Grow" at #14 for one week in August of 1962 and "Rumors" at #12 for one week in December of 1962... In the 1990s he was the leader of 'The Johnny Crawford Band'... May he R.I.P. * In 1963 he released a Cindy sequel titled "Cindy's Gonna Cry", it reached #72 and stayed on the Top 100 for seven weeks...

I was named after Johnny's character Mark McCain because my parents loved him so much on the show. I've watched every episode many times. Strangely enough when I was working in Reservations for Eastern Airlines I once took a random call from Johnny himself booking a flight from LA to Kansas city. I knew his voice well and before he gave me his name I said "so the reservation is for Johnny Crawford"? He said how do you know who I am? I said "I was named after you character, I'd know your voice anywhere". We talked for a while and he was so nice and genuine. I also met Chuck Connors in the Atlanta Airport and talked with him as well. He said they still kept in touch with each other and cherished those memories. Both of them great people.

Watching the Rifleman as a young boy. I lived vicariously through Johnny's role as Mark McCain. Imagining what it would be like to have your father in your life growing up. Greatful for the ride 🐎

I grew up watching him wishing I could be on that ranch. I grew up with Johnny Crawford, Kurt Russell, kids on the . Mickey Mouse Show, had a very good childhood, and many more

What a great look at Johnny Crawford. It must be some dust has kicked up here around my keyboard, as a tear or two has come to my eye. Johnny was the lad who John Wayne killed in “El Dorado “. It is so good to see the turn out for such a great western actor and musician. Thank you Rob for the memories and a chance to contribute to his living expenses.

You could see, in the last year or two, that something wasn't right with Johnny. 'Looked a little too fragile... Alzheimers is an awful thing. But Johnny has also been blessed with a great life, and I'm sure he knows this. We love you Johnny!!

From the time he was a small boy until he died, he had that same broad smile. He was a darn good actor and a wonderful human being.
