Great video Jeff, but you're forgetting to show us an example how to set up the task on CLI, or on S3 API. Based on your video, I can do it easily. Thank you very much.

14:59 - wouldn't dropped packets, etc - be a function of the TCP/IP layer and not a DataSync feature?

Hi, Kent. 👋 The technical scope of your question requires some further research. I've sent a request to the DataSync team for some insight. 🔍 ^RW

Hi, Kent! Thanks for your patience while I worked on the back end for you. Our Service team have back with an update: DataSync uses an agent to read from and write to storage systems that are located on-premises or in other clouds. The video mentions that if a customer on premises is far away geographically from AWS region they are copying from/into, or if their network is not stable (resulting in TCP packet drops/retransmissions), our DataSync service can handle them instead of the copy being failed. To answer your question, yes, dropped packets etc. is related TCP/IP layer, and issues arising from it can be handled by the Datasync service. This is what the video refers to. If you have any further tech questions, you can reach out on our re:Post platform: go.aws/aws-repost. 🤓 ^RW
