Yeah, I had one of the Production guys tell me that there was a third set. When they were here, which was for a month and a half, I looked everywhere for a third set. I never found anything. So I don't know if he was just messing with me or what. I always wanted to get a shot of the "Twins" sitting next to each other. The one time I could have had that the sun had already gone down and I was in the wrong spot, and one set was on the move. I got this video the next day.
@westfolk13 жыл бұрын
@CSX2665 They used both. Depending on what they were filming. For the "in cab" shots during the movie they used the 1206 you see at the end of this video. It was a gutted dead unit. A camera rolled around the cab as Denzel and Chris talked. All the other stuff was real 1206 units. One of which you can see in the first part of this video. They also had several pieces of 1206 engines that were used. But they did have complete running 1206 units that were used in the making.
@westfolk13 жыл бұрын
@SteveWard3928 That engine was used for "in cab" filming. It is a scrap engine that they stripped everything out of. If you search for AWVR 1206-c here on youtube you can see it a lot better. They had a track built in a circle around the cab for a camera to roll around the cab for filming.

Of course they have twins. It's just in case something happens to the main ones.
@owyntg5707 жыл бұрын
Asukalover1 exactly that is correct
@sbcsdjustice16463 жыл бұрын
Asukalover1, One was used for half the movie. The second one, on the other hand, was used for the damaged look in the rest of the movie,

the 4 AC4400's, both 777's and 767's were leased from Canadian Pacific Railway !

Thanks for the info. Since the start, almost everyone, always wanted to talk about just two fo them. With no one coming up with info on the other two.

ya i was trying to find out for a while. i heard a rumor there were 3 sets but i have yet to find out if there actually is
@westfolk13 жыл бұрын
@CSX2665 There was several prop locomotives. However, they did have, I think, can't remember for sure, 9 real engines. The 4 AC4400's in this video and 2 or 3 1206 engines. Then the other two grey units.
@westfolk13 жыл бұрын
@kwloverhoss The point was that up to this time the two sets of engines were not anywhere near to each other. They were always miles apart doing filming using each set at the same time. They didn't have them for replacement purposes as in say the General Lee's case. On this day they DID have them close enough to show that there were two sets. As you note locomotives each have their own number. That's why it was great to get a shot of something you just don't see.

@CSX2665 It's wasn't really a prop. It was a real loco that they stripped everything out of. It is the 1206 that you see towards the end of this video. They built a track around the cab for the camera to roll on. In the movie..if you have a good eye you can see the camera in the reflection. Plus at one point you can see the guy pushing the camera. Screw up letting it end up in the movie.
@BNSFandSP13 жыл бұрын
@railfan78559 I could too, but I'll only say one, 1206 went LHF to get its train, and when it goes after the 777, they make a big deal out of it.
@westfolk13 жыл бұрын
@CSX2665 They wouldn't be able to have the track for the camera around the cab using a complete engine. Search on here for "awvr 1206-c" for a good shot of the locomotive. They had a track all the way around the cab for filming
@avand1812 жыл бұрын
During the economic downturn, just like other large roads CP Rail had "yardfuls" of unused late-model heavy road power, in this case the General Electric AC4400CW's, which were borrowed. The movie was filmed along the Wheeling & Lake Erie (ex - P&WV / N&W) and the Allegheny Valley Railroad (ex- B&O / PRR), at points such as Bruceton, Wheeling, Gibsonia, Streets Run, etc, etc. There is NO AWVR.

@imaghostbuster36 The 777 & 767 sets are both real. The only prop locomotives they made were for the two that flipped over. Now they did have a prop cab of the 777. I have that in other videos.

Since this movie was based of the real CSX story, it makes up to be the best train movie ever. It beats atomic (shit) train, that was the fakest, and the run away train, the story completly lost me. What comes in second place for this is the Silver train "somethng", it stared the guy from the old Willy wonka, and in the end the diesel crashed into the station. yea, so this movie beats all!!

@bluecoatscheesypoofs13 жыл бұрын
well a typical locomotive that size costs definately in the six figure region. So if they had over 9 of them, this must have been one of the highest budget films in the past decade... cool
@westfolk15 жыл бұрын
Yes that is the real deal. They have been sitting anywhere the film crew is "working". The only thing I have seen them do is pull out into the road with their lights on and stop traffic. As soon as the film crew does whatever had to be done the cop backs off the road and lets everyone go on their way.

wow proof that there are multiple train engines with the same numbers. Did you know there were also over 300 General Lees. Its called Movie Magic. They always have multiple vehicles made identical. So if one breaks (or gets wrecked) they just bring another in. For trains its harder to mock one up quick so they had multiple units parked close together. In real railroading no 2 engines on the same railroad should have the same number. Its like a licence plate.

Allegheny West Valley Railroad (AWVR) Is a fictional railroad in a movie called unstoppable which is about a runnaway train that causes mass terror through the state if Pennsylvania. It is based off CSX 8888 and how it took alot of people to stop it.
