Those locomotives that derailed and exploded were actually props, the real ones are on W&LE.

Do you know if the locomotive was remotely controlled during the derailment sequence?

There were 2 stunt men in the train. (Of course they got out before they exploded it)

the thing is although hollywood loves its explosions it doesnt seem plausible that the engine just explodes like that, since that train looks like one of those diesel locomotives, which they just dont blow up a few minutes after its hit the deck (especially since diesel isnt flammable) and if anyone says about the engine exploding then it kinda contradicts with the film later on when that single locomotive engine block blows up due to overheating from the pressure of having to use its independent breaks

Maybe they blew up the fueltank, maybe.

did they actually blow them up? I WANTED TO KEEP THEM!!!!!
@privateerbouncher96226 жыл бұрын
They were muck-ups, made for the movie only, they were remote controlled. as you can see they are grey and bit less detailed. That was due to that they could edit in the AWVR design later on. No real SD40's were wasted. however they do look great and I would have kept them to be honest. but Michael bay has always another opinion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXnVd2yogtuobpI You can see the real 2 that the props were based on during the explosion. They are owned by W&LE, maybe sold to CSX today, IDK. Number was #6352 and #6351.

@@privateerbouncher9622 Both locomotives remain on the Wheeling & Lake Erie's roster, along with 6353 and 6354 (both used for AWVR 1206). 777 and 767 were actually portrayed by two Canadian Pacific AC4400CW's each, all four of which have returned to CP and are now unfortunately back in the CP paint scheme.

The only thing accurate in that foolish movie was that management was shown to be a bunch of bozos and the real railroaders had to bail them out.
