As a Horse rider this is dangerous. If she bites somebody too hard on accident she can draw blood and cause serious injury. I can definitely tell you if this happens it’ll be Jaws that gets the blame not the people. Horses have even been put down for biting too many people. I always discipline any Horse that tries using teeth on me. Most Horses at the riding school I go to have stopped doing it now but only after being disciplined by me. It’s important to establish boundaries with Horses especially because they can hurt or even kill us without intending to do so.

@@hazelmiller417 Depends on the situation. Most of the time an increase in my energy and a change of my body language makes them think twice. However, if they've bit me hard and won't let go then obviously I'll have to get them to let go quickly to avoid injury a quick thump on the face does the trick. Not too hard to hurt them or make them scared but enough to make them let go. A 17 hand Horse did that to me once. Bit me hard and didn't let go. Quick thump on her face and she let go. Has never tried to use her teeth on me since. She's not scared of me either. I scratch her every time I see her and she grooms me, she's completely fine. On the other side of the scale a yearling tried to bit my belt last week. I just waved my hand near the side of his face, changed the tone in my voice, body language, energy ect and he thought twice about doing it. There's nothing wrong with discipline as long as you do it correctly meaning as soon as they stop their behaviour you stop. In and out. Its abuse when you continue to do it long after they stopped the behaviour that needed a correction.

@@bourbon_sketcher Doesn't matter. The Horse will still get blamed always does. Even alot of Equestrians blame the Horse when something goes wrong even though 99% of the time its not a Horse problem, its a people problem. As the owner of the Horses its the Army's responsibility to ensure the Horses are safe around people. If I rode a Horse out on a hack and it started biting people, I would get blamed for what happened and told that my Horse is dangerous and that it shouldn't be out in public. The Army's no different. Reminds me of those Equestrians that have a red ribbon on their Horses tail or forelock which tells others that their Horse will kick or bite if they get too close. Legally I don't think it would make difference in court as its their responsibility to make sure their Horse is safe. To me whenever I see a sign or red ribbon I just think that its owner either cannot be arsed to train their Horse or don't know what they're doing so they just put a sign up or a ribbon on their Horse to try and absolve themselves of their responsibility.
