Dude not only did you nail the tone but its the FEEL in your playing. I say it all the time, it's one thing to learn phrases but I feel it's so important to try and capture the feeling the player put in to it and you do just that. Great job!

Thanks so much! Same here, those two continue to inspire after all these years. Die to Live is a great sound! I bet it wouldn’t take too much tweaking to get there using my preset as a starting point. It’s definitely less saturated, and sort of a tighter, more articulate tone. I’ll take a shot at it!

Still Sounds Digital, clicky, when your used to tubes, thanks for the patch though I’m always looking for something that is a least in the ballpark, have had my axe3 for 5 months and love it but the modeling is not quite there yet, nowhere as good as my tube rigs But here’s to the future

Interesting to hear your perspective. I’ve spent much of my musical life with tube amps, but at this point, I can’t say there’s much I miss. Even playing them side by side with other guitar players I’ve been more happy with the Axe Fx. That said, everyone’s tonal journey is different. Gotta find the most inspiring sounds for YOU. I hope you’ll stick with your axe 3, so much power to behold!

Hi, a very Vaish tone right there! Ive been chasing these tone for years! It put a smile on my face that you have capture it! I am using a Fractal Ax8 and ibanez jem. Do you think that i can transfer these settings on ax8? I know i cannot convert the preset from axe fx3 to ax8. Thanks for all you efforts here and hope you will have a time covering tender surrender tone and die to live.

Thanks! Great to hear this one put a smile on your face! I think you can absolutely get something very close with the AX8. The settings won’t be exactly the same but should be a good starting point. For the boost I’d recommend either the Super OD or maybe the BB pre with low distortion, high level. Additionally, a slight low mid boost before the amp block might work well. Somewhere around 400hz. Let me know how it goes! I’d love to do a patch and performance of Tender Surrender, that’s one of the best!

No prob! Sounds like a plan. For the low mid boost, use a Filter or PEQ block before the amp. Start with around a 3 dB boost at 400hz, Q value of 1.4. You’re looking to add a bit of thickness without introducing too much mud.

By the way the amp to use is cali leggy or legato?

Probably because I had it set to auto engage. Disable that in the modifier menu and it should be good to go.

If you search through the comments here you’ll find another person that was asking the same thing. He got some good results with the Cali Leggy amp model and he also had a clever way of emulating the DS-1. Check it out!
