I have a question; I got the FCB1010 with the Uno Chip. Would I have to revert back to the original chip to follow along? When I try to follow you, I am not getting the same screen. I just got the FM3 and I am trying to set it up to be controlled by the FCB1010. Thanks in advance!

Correct, sorry. I haven’t done any searching for them, but it might be worth going on the official Fractal forums and asking around - make sure you note that it’s the Uno chip, otherwise you’ll probably get pointed right back to these videos lol. Personally, I love it with the stock chip. These days I mainly use the FCB for my NDSP plugins, as my FM3 is almost 100% controlled via Bluetooth MIDI from my iPad running OnSong.

@@UglyBunnyJase When you go to the Midi/Other menu, on the scene select channel, do you have to set this for every preset (#34)? Is there no global setup for that? I already reverted to the Standard EEPROM from the Uno, so I can follow your tutorial. Thanks in advance!

@@barretthamilton2565 that’s correct - I believe there are computer editors that will carry out that batch function, but not from the unit itself. The exp pedals, to my knowledge, are the only universally pre-configured CCs on the unit.

That said, you’ll have to look in the FCB manual, but I believe you can copy banks and/or individual presets.

Now, I am trying to get the Switch #10 on the FC to turn on the tuner, I have to set to CC#37 which I have set my tuner to, but it is not turning on. Any clues as to what I am doing wrong? Hate to bug, I have been trying everything. I am almost there though, thanks largely to you and your channel.

Hey, thanx a lot for the vid. This helps a lot. I only use the FM3 and i tried to do the same switch-config as you did, but f.e. switching between Scen 1 and 8 by hitting botton 1 does not work. I correctly put the CCs on CNT1 value 0 and CNT2 value 7, but i only can elect Scene 8... Can you help me out? Can the FM3 only handle 1 CC at the same time? Thanx Martin

Yep. You just use the bank up button to go from 00 to 01. Then program each of those presets as you would have in bank 00.

im having difficulties on bank 01 for changing scene, on pedal 1 works fine but when i setup for pedal 2 for changing scene it change to other preset. mine stock chip btw, need help

When you're in edit mode for pedal 2, make sure pedals 1-5 aren't lit - those are PCs which change presets. Make sure only pedals 6 or 7 are lit, as those are the CCs, which change scenes.

Awesome vids my friend! Im a noob with midi. Does the midi implementation chart you use speak to how the Behringer comes programmed or the way you peraonally programmed it? Can I literally do everything you just did right out of the box, using both units? If not, what would I need to do? Love the Axe Fx III and thank you so much!!

My chart is what I've assigned the Axe Fx III's functions to. In the Axe Fx III's MIDI-Remote menu, you can basically, carte blanche, assign any MIDI-assignable function to any CC. The only thing you CAN'T assign is the bank select (CC#00) and the PCs (with the exception of PC mapping). And yes, you can do all this with both the FCB1010 and the Axe Fx III out of the box. I don't have any aftermarket chip in my FCB1010. I bought the UnO chip, but the more research I did, the more I realized it would cripple and complicate the awesome functionality with very little in terms of benefits (though i can understand how if you have simpler needs, the aftermarket chips may be good for ya). As far as how the FCB1010 comes programmed stock, I think it just has the PC 1 of every pedal programmed (so bank 00, pedal 1 would have PC1 - pedal 1 in edit mode - to PC#1, pedal 2 would have PC 1 - again, pedal 1 in edit mode - programmed to PC#2, etc). It also comes with both expression pedals already on and assigned to CC#27 & 07 (I think) - but the other 4 PCs and 2 CCs are blank so you can do anything you want. I know this all seems a bit confusing. I'm a bit of a MIDI noob as well - or I was when I first got the FCB1010. It was quite a steep learning curve since I was learning MIDI programming AND FCB1010 & Axe Fx programming at the same time. I eventually got the hang of it :)

@@HamsterSpanks You can't, sadly. The bank pedals are only internal to the FCB1010 and send no MIDI messages. That's why I cram as much as I can in each bank and really only use 3 banks with specific purposes. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I finally figured out how to get the scenes to switch. One issue I am running into is after having set up buttons 1-4 with both CC's like you have (button 1 for presets 1and 5) when I press 1 initially it goes to 1 and then 5 immediately after. Is there something I am doing wrong or did i perhaps get a bad button on my unit?

I would suggest checking to see if the option in the Axe Fx "Ignore redundant PC" is off or on. Try switching that. Also, can you confirm you're using the stock chip and not one of the aftermarket chips? Shoot me an email at [e-mail] if you continue having issues and I'll go through and hook my FCB up again and see if I can't help you through this. I just rewatched the video and if you have everything set as I do (only buttons 6 and 7 sending CCs) it should work like mine, but I'm willing to help you troubleshoot. However, if you have an aftermarket chip in your FCB, I can't help.

It does not work with me... When I press and hold the DOWN button and then press UP to confirm, I always have #1 footswith on, no matter what. When I hit it, it starts blinking... It's just so frustrating... i do as shown on the video and I don't get the same result... Is there a special mode I should get in prior to doing what you do on this video? You have to push and HOLD pedal 1: that will turn it off. Just pushing it (making it blink) basically means you want to edit it - so it will start blinking, then you'd press "UP" and set teh value. But since you just want to turn it off, just push and hold. Good luck!

Yep- make sure that when you’re in edit mode, only the pedals for CCs are lit if you’re trying to change scenes and only the pedals for PCs are lit if you’re trying to change presets. Reminder: buttons 1-5 are PC and buttons 6 & 7 are CC.

Hi! I have a question about fcb 1010. I read instruction, but I can't find a tip how to save a preset (from my synth) on my foot controller. Can you tell me what is the easiest way to save a sound on fcb bank? I just need to quickly choose the sounds that i am interested on.

You have to assign a foot pedal to the PC that contains that preset on your synth. The FCB1010 doesn't store any sounds, so it just has to tell your synth where to look for the sound you want. All you would do is go into edit mode (hold DOWN button) and make sure only one of the PC buttons is active (light on on pedal 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5). Tap that pedal so it's blinking, then hit UP to edit the value, with the value being the PC of where that preset is stored on your synth. If your synth stores presets in banks, then it gets a little bit hairier, but even then, you just add a CC (pedals 6 or 7) set to the value of the bank where your preset is stored. You'll have to look up the MIDI information in your synth's manual to figure out how it organizes presets. Message me again if you can't figure it out, but also include a link to the manual of your synth and the exact preset you're trying to recall. Cheers!

Can you please explain how to jump different presets (I only need 3 presets for my gig). for clean tone with different amp,cab, effects vs. I am just figuring out the device so please go easy with instructions :) thanks in advance. this is easy; put the three presets you need at the beginning of your presets (000-002 or 001-003, depending on how you're configured). Then, go into edit mode on each of pedals 1-3 and ONLY turn on pedal 1 (one of five program changes). On pedal 1, set the value to 1. On pedal 2, set the value of the PC to 2. On pedal 3, set it to 3. Done. Make sure that pedal 1 is the ONLY pedal lit up once you're in edit mode (8 &9 are also fine; the exp pedals).

@@sandman4asleep Yes. But you have to understand the difference between the pedals 1-10 within each bank and the pedals 1-10 while in edit mode. In edit mode, you can set up to 5 PCs using pedals 1-5, and 2 CCs using pedals 6&7, and the two EXP pedals, using 8&9, and a note, using pedal 10. So, for pedals 6, 7, and 8, you would go into edit mode and make sure the only pedal from 1-7 that was activated was pedal 1 and you'd set the value to your desired preset. Exit edit mode and repeat for pedals 7 & 8. To set scenes, you'd assign the scene change to a MIDI CC# in the axe Fx III itself. Then, you'd make sure that pedals 1-5 each had (in edit mode), of pedals 1-7, ONLY pedal 6 activated, with the # as you assigned in Axe Fx and the value a number from 0-7: 0 is scene 1, 1 is scene 2, and so on. It doesn't make any sound; it's just a controller. There are lots of amazing Axe Fx III demos out there. This is just showing how I use the FCB to control the Axe's functions :)

Can you access all of the presests? I have a Line 6 pod xt and I can only switch between the first 128 presets. Im between the fcb or the randall rf8, I want to be able to access all the banks since I store my presets after the factory ones

Of course! If you don't set a CC to select a bank, then the PC you set will only access whatever bank you're currently on. But if you set the CC to access bank 2 or 4 or whatever, then the PC will access that preset within that bank. There is one issue I ran across here, in that when selecting presets in different banks, you have to push the pedal twice for some reason. Hours of troubleshooting didn't help figure this out. Just keep all the presets you use regularly in the same bank and you'll be good to go.

No, but that's a good idea. It's not hard, but the offset and non-existent "bank" function in the Axe might make it a bit confusing. Perhaps later tonight or tomorrow :)

I know it seems overwhelming at first, especially if you're learning MIDI at the same time as learning the pedal (like I did) - but once it clicks, it clicks :) Probably the most confusing part is the offset, since scene 1 is value 0, scene 2 is value 1, etc. Let me know how I can make it make sense to you.
