I'm sure someone else pointed it out or you figured it out, or a thousand people commented, but,..in case they didn't.,... you want to have a little distance from yourself and the guitar to the axe fx3 to avoid rf interference...even with perfect shielding it can still get noisy when you are right next to the unit...

Do we need to use an effect pedal if I use the axe fx?

The Axe Fx has all typical effects and many you didn't know you wanted, and they're top quality. That said, you can throw an analogue pedal in your chain if you want to, there are some really good/unique ones out there.

To elaborate on BitesizeCrayons, you don't need a pedal to use this. I pre program all of my changes through MIDI on logic pro. I'd much rather do that than buy the $600 pedalboard that Fractal offers.
