Awesome video on these upgrades, Thanks so much! I am currently ordering all of my upgrades before my build and this is what I was waiting for. Can't wait to see the next one on the wheels and tires I am still undecided on those.

RC Overload hey Matt how were the strc c hubs and knuckles holding up?
@marioberto85467 жыл бұрын
Awesome video. can anyone of them be done to an Everest 10?
@funshootin17 жыл бұрын
Mario Berto hey Matt, I got my son an everest 10. we've been doing mods since day one. . crawling mostly, low cg ride height by making brackets, several motor and gearing changes for experimentation, 3s lipo.. the stock esc had a chernobly meltdown and we swapped that out.. I have been through the axles and I have to say they are fine with stock drive train but if you put more power to them the steering arms attached to the axle ends rip off under loading, we've snapped front shafts ,broke the knuckles ..stripped the plastic "locker" diff carrier. fortunately for us , this axle design is a common part used in several brands worldwide. . when searching ebay for parts use ,exceed maxstone, scx10, scx0001 , hsp pangolin and there's probably a few I'm forgetting. . anyways, you'll see in pics and parts descriptions that in most cases the parts are identical in every way...just be sure that you are looking for the axial scx10 axle parts that are for the original, older type of scx10 axle, not the "2" second generation. . you'll see in pics the difference between the ends of the axle tube where the steering arms or lockouts attach.. the splined end types are the newer style axles and most likely it won't directly fit on our everest 10s.. look for the older type axle with the screw retainers out at the ends of the tubes and the 4 screw diff housings with the same suspension link tabs.. those arethe ones you want to search for when looking for parts . . as far as the upgrades I am going to try the aluminum steering stuff. . Redcat wants like 24 bucks for knuckles and same for the mounting bracket. . 11 bucks on ebay, I guarantee it is manufactured by the same contract machine shop in Guangdong China . this will help the steering component strength but now the loads get transferred to the next plastic part which is the axles tube ends where steering inner knuckles mount, the 2 halfs are thin plastic with a bearing .. that's going to shear off so we're doing to do the "beef tubes " ..Essentially a liner for the axle tubes that supports the body from diff bearings to outboard bearings and the axle shaft runs through them.. they have tapped holes for the knuckle mounts to tie it all together. . if you're looking at upgrades I wouldn't go too crazy, I will be doing the ebay steering components , the tubes, hardened cv type axle shafts, and aluminum differentials but nothing else. . the cost /benefit ratio is too low to dump more than 40 to 50 bucks at an axle that you can get complete stock units for 35 bucks. . and aluminum and steel (cast im sure ) aftermarket complete axles that would require a tiny bit of modification to fit tge everest starting at 60 bucks. . I'm new to the crawler rc game, but I have had my share of rc stuff and the kids got redcat blackouts first, then arrma buggys, and we inherited a handful of chassis and partially complete parts cars which have been an awesome source for stupid screws , links, shocks ect. man if you are ever offered a big box of old rc "junk" do not say no to that. . that box has been a lifesaver countless times. also check out the everest 10 owners group on Facebook if you're on there.. there's folks who have a lot of knowledge about the everest so it's a good resource. . it's kinda like the redheaded stepchild of rc crawlers. . not a comp rig , not a scaler. . it's inexpensive and a great introduction to the crawling range of rc trucks , it's a decent enough machine and is a good value, for 140 bucks or so Ready to run there's nothing else with a traditonal center motor /trans and driveshafts to the axle (realistic layout ) that performs any better and has parts commonality with so many other things that the options are endless as to what you can get it to be. . more serious crawling or more scale looking either way is totally doable with a little ingenuity and not too much money.

Hey bro I was wondering if you or someone could save me some reaserching headache and give me some measurements! I'm still trying to transition from having a 4 link to a 3 link with Panhard bar setup. I went for a test run with scx10.2 rails and KYX 10.3 portals and even though I was steering all the way to the right it was actually driving angled to the left. (driving diagonally instead of straight) I put on the same links I had before. Is my upper link too long? Someone help me out!

@RCOverloadYT8 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! and yes SSD stuff is great!
@nitrocell92872 жыл бұрын
honestly other than the added weight which could be accomplished by much cheaper means. This upgrade was just cosmetic. All the OEM parts are more than enough from an engineering stand point. Its a rock crawler its not made for racing and jumping. sure aluminum is harder than plastic BUT! the flexibility of plastic absorbs shock and can bend without breaking.

Just wondering if this happened to anyone else. Mine STRC kit was installed and the front bar that connects the 2 wheels together seems to be to short cause both wheels are pointing in towards each other by about a 1/4 inch. Is there a special piece that I didn't get?

+humble rc the Panhard bar setup is basically the same thing as the knuckles. And the knuckles experience more stress then the Panhard bar dose. I'm sure it will be fine. The stock shocks aren't my favorite let's put it that way. Lol
