Thanks man, keep it up would love to see more of this, I can tell that steering mod helped, that’s one thing I noticed even in the promo vid from Axial that the front wheels were everywhere. I really want a crazy rock racer type thing. Thanks good show👍🏻

Great video! I got my YXL kit in November and It's been broke most the time. It stripped the stock wheels first pack and never ran them down. Axial sent me 2 new wheels and tires. Too bad they were for the RTR. I put on some proline wheels. I baked off my Falkens and put them on the prolines. Built it with the HR steering which helped a lot. I burnt up 2 servos, my fault. Then I blew a front diff bearing which took out my gears and the front case. I also had the front mount pull out. It is an awesome vehicle but it is like driving glass while stock. All this on 4s. Tax time is here and I'm gonna get it bullet proof.

I don't have a Yeti XL nor do I have plans to get one. Just really not my thing....but scale trail/crawlers and Monster trucks are. That being said, for "not being a review" that was a very informative and good video. Great upgrades and the thought behind them. Very nice. Now, just a thought of my own......if the the Yeti XL has parts brake-down this early on with 4s but is capable of 6s out of the box.....well....that doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless Axials whole plan with this truck was parts sales. I have 5 Axials and 3 big Traxxas trucks(starting with a first generation E-Maxx to befriend my Clodbuster I've had since 1988) and you just don't see these things happen with Traxxas for the most part. Subbed up to your channel. Really well done! I love my YXL kit and agreet that I wouldn't touch the truck with a 6S as 4S is perfectly fine. I have roached 3 spur gears on my truck, even using the hardened axial unit. I did the Hot Racing steering servo bellcrank which made it drive like a total different truck. I have the Axial front body mount too.
@DDMSteveB8 жыл бұрын
***** To be fair the first set of gears happened because the bolts holding the motor to the plate loosened. Your other 1/8 cars benefit from a center diff and likely less heavy tires which put a lot of strain on the driveline. All that to be said the YXL is one of my most fun RC's I have had in years.

first upgrades include factory shims upgraded lubes for the diffs quality motor trans mount and motor plate with heat sink style design upgrade the the clutch assembly and spur but if you do a higher quality mount and plate you will decrease slipped shaft failure or limit the amount of burn out always tighten the motor mounts before 6s runs. the stock mount and plate heat and deform under heavyload

+The RC Cave Mainly 1/8th scale buggy racing from years ago plus I love the mechanics of this beast the engineering is strong but misses on some strength based points in the fit parts can't beat the design and function reduce the friction of the rotating masses and make sure that monster motor is mounted tight and strong and you will stop grenading spur gears and pinion damage if it continues chassis strengthening plates are needed. racing in buggy and truggy the flex would crush gears and wear out the clutch shoes but stones chewed up a lot of high quality gear.

awesome video man.. the yeti looks great!!! so I wonder if A arms are part of the upgrade plan? thanks for sharing..:p
@RcNickster7098 жыл бұрын
***** Looked like the A arms were really flexing quite a bit on the run so I assumed you might be thinking of upgrading those as well. Could be the reason for the lost Dog bones.. :) Or the fact that you were really letting loose with this thing lol...
@trumanthomas68648 жыл бұрын
cnc straight cut gear will increase surface area to transfer more energy plus try a fan on the motor as well bigger tires means the motor and speed control will be working hard unless you change the gearing. that is the my idea I would rather compress a cheap spring a thousand times than replace a 100$ servo every run unless you go ofna servo saver and then you are double protected but those big lugs you put on may twist both savers

steering upgrade to quality aluminum parts use the light duty spring. axial servo horn gpm turn buckle link. and gpm steering links and you turn it into a beast and a xmaxx won't be able to last against a yeti after those

Thumbs up awesome vid very informative, if I could give 10 thumbs up you would have it... looks like you have some awesome places to run it. I have the rtr version and it cost me a small fortune, servo went out on first run, made a mistake installing an external bec and fried the bec / rx broke a drive cup and cvd trying to get the slipper set right, tire came unglued which cost me a wheel, plus stripped one of the hex on another wheel, then later on tried to de-glue all tires using acetone, which almost melted the tires, these tires do not like acetone, so ended up patching the tires back together and made some spiked tires out of them which work really well for certain applications, but also order'd another full set the last vid I made I did another front end landing which just seems to happen a lot even tho you can hit the same jump and have it fly straight and level half the time the other half it nose dives hard, on that final vid the front ring pinion gear finally went, that was only about 8 - 10 packs worth of run time and aside from the gears getting munched they looked to be in great shape. also replace rear and front with kit version for the true 8mm axles, plus fast eddy bearing kit, and the list keeps going. I recently purchased the kit and have been purchasing upgrades, trying to stay away from bling to keep weight down but raise durability and reliability, already order'd alum diff cups, alum front bulkhead and the new spiral cut gears strc alum steer rack the gold tini shock shafts, both yetis are getting the full T-Bone racing skid bumper package, might stay with plastic links on rear, still need to decide on if going with dhawk aluminum spacer for the front rear pinion or adding a third bearing, the stock plastic ones are a joke already up to 3 shims on my rtr YXL, I am probably going with a color scheme similar to yours to keep it simple, and clean and painting the inside of chassis grey, might purchase some closed cell foams before I glue up the tires wheels, I have the electrics, but am really wanting the mamba monster X esc, I seriously love this platform my only real complaint is the whole front end it they could have done a better job designing the front end, also the ground clearance up front I wish their was like another 1/2 inch up front, and the front arms could have been flat instead of the downward bend they have in them, which also snags on a lot of stuff.. anyways enough of my rambling post, I really like your yeti and the way you edited this vid Thumbs up and a smile :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5KWgJSkbbyMbbs

I'm sorry but this the reason I stopped buying Axial products everything brakes and your always upgrading because stock is always so cheap. Love there platforms so now what I do is build the platforms from ground up like my Scx10 and Wraith both are ground up the only Axial product on my Wraith is the AR60 AXLES.🤘😎 Good luck hope you don't have to put too much money into it. Thanks love the channel and honest review and tips.

These are such Badass cars! It's a shame that Axial can't make cars that are as tough as they look. They always need bulk money thrown at them to make them any good. My Yeti 1/10 has really turned me off axial, it cost about half the price of the car to get it up to scratch with aftermarket parts. Having said that though axial are great for innovating and coming up with new ideas. Sweet vid mate, really enjoyed it (-:

And if big tires are a focus change the diff to ceramic bearings up grade to the cnc straight cut gears increase gearing surface area and do synthetic for the diffs aluminum casters all 4 corners with full ceramic rubber sealed bearings. all new drive shafts not telescoping style solid style to prevent torque twist and strain on bearings and internals and slipper remember the bigger the tires back off on clutch to save pinion and spur from deflection shock and key one install a high quality motor and gear cover the smallest grains of sand can destroy a hundred dollar drive line in seconds even more so in 4s+ drive runs. and upgrade to 23 MM hexes and don't forget to change the shock mount on the arm to prevent binding during turning. If you can wrench it into submission then you are a step above.

+The RC Cave if you can't afford new gear rebuild the joints and install new drive cups all around but you never know they just might take the abuse

+The RC Cave see going big tire put an aluminum axle truss in the back and up grade the internal shafts in the axle plus higher quality front upper links you are opening a big wallet to run big tire full time
