About the Portugal Problem: If the French just move their cruiser to sea zone 8, it would prevent any German ships from moving into sea zone 14, thereby allowing the French to activate Portugal and move out of it with no problem (at least for a turn).

I really don't like or advise to give a chance for those German subs off Canada to escape. It also depends on how strong or weak the German navy is as a bold/lucky German player might just pick off a hapless French cruiser and weaken the French navy for the following turn - but yes, I have done this exact move many times. =)

Looking forward to your take on the British Empire and other countries of this game.

I am enjoying your A&A 1914 series. It would be great if you could do the same applying the Tournament Rules for A&A 1914 which many of us prefer rather than the "out of box rules".

I appreciate this comment. I feel that the out-of-box rules get a bad rap that they don't deserve. However, I don't feel this is the fault of players as the game manual has an incredibly long errata - namely, with regards to the Revolution Rule (but other minor rules as well). I will talk more about this in the final video. The tournament rules change the game quite a bit as you probably know. My intuition is that it is a nearly apples to oranges comparison in terms of gameplay. To give them their fair shake and produce videos would require quite a bit of logistics on my end (stacking up games and finding opponents, etc). All this to say - I don't know what I'm doing next. I was kind of leaning towards one of the campaign versions of AnA (D-Day, Guadalcanal, Bulge). Is your vote for tournament rules 1914? And yes, I'm aware of it's ...popularity.

@@thegoodcaptain1217 I do favor the Tournament Rules for it significantly reduces the time length to play the game but it does change how to play the game. Your insights and applications of probability using Tournament Rules would be most welcomed by this game's fans like me.

I just got my pbp A&A 1914 game off the ground. Sadly handing out countries to players didn't work out as I hoped and instead of playing A+H alongside my son as Germany, I am instead playing France AGAINST my son as Germany. XD

Would it be a good idea for the French to buy fighters later in the game as a way of catching the Germans (who by that point will probably be quite far from Berlin) off guard?
@thegoodcaptain12175 ай бұрын
Right - I call this "local air superiority". In general, it appears that the larger of two economies will automatically win out the battle in the air in the long term by being able to build more fighters but if you can gain a one or two turn advantage bc your opponent doesn't have the numbers, I'm 100% in for this and have done this before. At the time of this writing, in our game, I was tempted to do this as the Ottomans since the British only purchased a single fighter - in the same line of thinking, and more recently in our game, the UK attack into Bulgaria suffered from lack of "local air superiority". The weaker economy cannot and should not expect to win in the long term however. In our game, I understand the massive UK economy can and will just smother the austrians in the air and so I have no plans as the austrians to invest heavily in air - except for opportunities for local air superiority. The best way to make sure I or anyone ever has this option when you have the stronger economy is to divide his income by 6. That is the least amount of fighters you need to have in his airspace to ensure he never has the option.

Any thoughts about activating Portugal with 3 Infantry, moving 1 inf from Brest and1 inf, 2 art from Paris to Bordeaux, attacking Spain with those assets in turn 2, plus one fighter, and 2battleships?You can move more infantry from Paris, but just the concept.

Yes, I've seen this move several times. I don't like it as it draws away French troops from the middle of the board where they're needed most. It seems to allow the Germans to lunge an extra territory forward as a second order affect. Not my cup of tea but with the oob setup, the Entente will have a hard time doing anything fatal to their cause.

Unrelated in 1914 but will you ever do A&A anniversary 1942 set up?
@thegoodcaptain1217 Жыл бұрын
I've nothing planned at the moment. Others interest me more than the '42 setup for Anniversary so if I do that one, it likely will not be the next in the chute. Each of these series takes about a year to a year and a half. Most of that is playing games and finding opponents.

Are you going to do a series on tournament rules next
@thegoodcaptain12174 ай бұрын
@@browncow1563 just seeing this now. No plans to do that yet but have an announcement coming soon. TripleA will have a map that supports tournament rules. Pretty neat.

Have you played games by Columbia Games?

I know of their game “Victory” but haven’t played it. What made you think of Columbia games?
