Good you made a axolotl video :D Also To anyone who is reading this if you want to get a axolotl -Don’t be cheap -cycle your tank -do research -keep light on blue -Have Aton of hides -have Aton of plants -have 20 gallons for 1 axolotl and an extra 10 gallons for each axolotl you add in -keep in mine they are captive bred axolotls you will buy not wild ones -yes they eat worms -your can’t take them out water -get a api water test kit (it’s needed) -you need to buy bottle of ammonia for cycle -water changes every week -thermometer needed -cold temperatures -use ice bottle to cool down tank or get a aquarium fan -DO NOT USE GRAVEL -use aquarium sand or bare bottom tank if needed -real or fake plants can be used -worms they eat (baby’s) blood worms) - worms they eat (Adult) almost any worm see what works best for you -get a good filter -wash sand and get dust out before putting in tank -you will need test water in tank everyday when cycling and once a week when cycle is done and you have your axolotl -axolotls are very easy to take care of if you know what your doing -better everything is healthier your axolotl will be -yes you will or can spend up to 300 on everything but it’s worth it - best Dechlorinating for tank is prime (yes it smells like fish O-O) -Alive or frozen worms both work -they can eat pellets and sometimes you can feed them shrimp -make sure tank is away from light and in cold place (basement is best) -and know that can live up to 15 Years Tank cycling? - -api test kit (Best for water testing) -ammonia (ONLY FOR CYCLE) -Dechlorinating (prime as I said before) -quick start - if anything else need it’s easy to search up Plants? -yes plants are needed as some axolotls sit on them or hide behind them -get plants that can hold weight -big plants -and you can almost put every water plant in the tank as long as it’s not sharp Hides -hides are one of most important thing in the tank -lots of hide bigger then the axolotl them self -1 or 2 hides for 1 axolotl and like 2 - 3 hides for 2 axolotls Hammocks? -yes there are aquarium hammocks and axolotls love them -so if you still have enough money from getting all other stuff I recommend one of these -different heights in the tank is recommended Can you touch? -in most cases NO do not -If it’s moving the axolotl then yes you can -but on any other cases no do not touch the axolotl -they have a thin slime coat to keep them safe and touching them will break it -if you wanna touch them wash your hands and put your hand in the tank and let the axolotl come to you Tank mates? -axolotls don’t need tank mates -but beware if you do get tank mates get a aquarium barrier if not from same place -make sure there the same size, axolotls will eat the smaller axolotl if not fed properly -YES they bite each other’s limbs off but don’t worry they grow back and it is totally normal Cleaning the tank -when cleaning the tank make sure put the axolotls in a tub while you clean the tank -get a turkey baser (trust me) there poop will turn to dust if they step on it -get something to scrub the inside of tank to get rid of algae Do they like light? -no they have very sensitive eyes -best is blue light -OR a VERY dim white light -make sure tank is in dark room Fridge? -yes you read it correctly -you can put your axolotl in the fridge in not feeling well -such as? -white fluff on gills -or floating upside down -check what temperature the fridge needs to be And rest pretty easy to search up So hope this helps any other people who wants an axolotl
