Axworthy Flying Ghost Halloween Project

Axworthy flying ghost Halloween prop. This project uses polyurethane boat keel rollers for pulleys which work remarkably well. They do not require a great amount of tension to keep the line on. They were amber in color but I painted them black and lubed them with axle grease on a hex bolt.
The motor is from a treadmill, uses a bridge rectifier and Harbor Freight router speed control to slow it down. All brackets are welded together steel but everything could be built using wood.
The line is tarred fishing line that is more like rope. It is fairly thick but more or less invisible at night.

I have to say after watching several of these, yours looks the least complex. Can you tell me what size the bow rollers are? Or a link to what you bought? The ones that I see online appear to be smaller than the ones you have. TIA

The benefit of this roller over a bicycle wheel is you don't need nearly as much tension on the line to keep it on the roller and the alignment between rollers doesn't need to be perfect. Good luck!

It is just about that loud in person, noisier than I would like but it was what I had at the time.

Do you think a nylon rope would work?

With this setup it would but you would need to adjust the rope tension several times. I find that nylon ropes tend to stretch over time.
