INGREDIENTS:
Mackerel/Fish - Medium sized 5 no.
Tomato - 2 small sliced.
Malabar Tamarind/Kudampuli water - 3 pieces, soaked in hot water.
Kashmiri chili powder - 2 tbsp.
Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon.
Turmeric powder - 2 tsp.
Shallot - 8 no sliced.
Ginger - One large piece chopped.
Garlic - 12 no sliced.
Green chili - 7 nos.
Fenugreek seed - 10 to 15 nos.
Fenugreek powder - One pinch.
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Chili powder - 3 tbsp.
Salt - as required.
Coconut Oil as needed.
Hot water - 1-1/2 cup.
PREPARATION:
Marinate the mackerel with 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp chili powder, lemon juice, and salt for 10 minutes.
Heat some oil in a pan. Shallow fry the mackerel. Remove it to a plate.
Add mustard to the oil and allow them to pop. Add fenugreek seeds, ginger, garlic, green chili, and shallot. Saute well so that the raw smell fades away. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 2 tbsp kashmiri chili powder, 2 tbsp chili powder. Mix it well. Add 2 springs of curry leaves, tomato, and salt. Mix it well. Add kudampuli water and hot water. When the masala starts boiling, add fried fishes. Rotate the pan as shown in the video. Add one pinch of fenugreek powder, curry leaves, and coconut oil. Our fish curry is ready.
Serve after 30 minutes.
