This is the story of Princess Luna becoming Nightmare Moon. After not feeling appreciated by her people (and being jealous of her sister) she decides to take over, going as far as to attack her sister after she refused to stand down. It's never revealed if her people really didn't appreciate her or if it was just her jealousy that lead her to believe so. In the end Celestia had to banish her to the moon. The wizard is Starswirl the Bearded, who's basically Merlin. He doesn't have anything to do with the story but he's a prominent historical figure in the world they come from.

Basically what happened is that the pony who is singing is princess Luna, luna has a sister who basically calls all the shots. Her sister princess Celestia is older, more beautiful, more loved. Luna raises and Lowers he moon while Celestia raises and lowers he sun. While everyone’s runs and plays in the sun, they sleep through Luna’s beautiful night and she wants recognition. With that she sings about all of this and she then slowly turns evil if you payed attention, first her eyes, then her hair, then everything. From her looks to the castle to the sky itself. While she is singing an old wizard named star swirl he bearded went and warned her sister, then after this song picture a lullaby for a princess happening. That’s what happened. BUTTT this is fan made and non of the extra stuff like the singing and the wizard were confirmed. I stopped watching the show but I still remember he story! Hope this helped! Bye!

This is like a prequel animation to Lullaby for a Princess. Luna refused to lower the moon, and rebelled against her sister, so her sister was forced to banish her to the moon for 1000 years.

The story behind the animation and song is that, as explained in the very first episode, was that Luna's elder sister Celestia controls the sun and governs Equestria while she controls the moon/ stars and is charged with granting her subjects peaceful dreams. However, nopony seems to care about the angsty teenage princess of the night. Thus, she takes on the dark persona Nightmare Moon, shrouding the world in eternal darkness and essentially inventing nightmares. However, using the mystical elements of harmony, Celestia is forced to banish her sister to the moon for 1,000 years. The wizard Starswirl The Bearded does jack squat except dissappear for about 1,003 years. He is later discovered to be a total asshat (pardon my French). You really should watch the show, it completely diverts your expectations. They even had a full on cult once! It was glorious.

here's some context There are two princesses, Celestia and Luna one controls day the other night However everyone fears the night but loves day and Luna was upset and she became nightmare moon Nightmare Moon (the thing she turned into at the end) wanted eternal night which would overthrow all balance Celestia banishes Luna to the moon with the elements of harmony for 1000 years The Moon Rises is completely fanmade both in animation and song hope this explains everything :)

So princess luna usually sleeps at day and wakes up at night to maintain the order of Night, at the beginning she felt alone and gave in to darkness cause she had nothing. At day time she had to sleep cause she gets tired of all the work she does at night, and at day she sleeps, so she has no time to meet people and have friends, cause everyone sleeps at night. She gets jealous and really sad but she holded it in, but eventually she gave in after her elder sister (princess Celestia) refused to give her a separate colony in which night ponies thrive.

That is because Duo Cartoonist and Hasbro both used Toon Boom Animation software for their projects. Oh, did you notice the one thing that that really impressed me about the animation? During Luna's song by the open windows of the Throne Room, she turns 180 degrees to work her magic upon the moon. No cut-away shots, no sequentially shown single angle pictures strung together to simulate such a turn. NO. We get to see a cartoon character actually 'turn in place' in a few steps, so fluidly, and so 'naturally' that we don't even notice it... since our minds see this every day in real life. just a couple of thoughts, the Frank Pony

At the very beginning of the show Princess Luna was coming back from the moon the two Princesses are apart of the official lore of the original TV show, the Lullaby for a Princess and the Moon rises are both animations of right before and after Luna was banished. (and those two animations are what got me into MLP)

This is basically the story: There are two sisters. One raises the sun and the other the moon. Luna, sees how they love her sister's day but "ignore" her night. She feels unappreciated by others and becomes reluctant of her duties. One day, she refused to lower the moon and turned into Nightmare Moon. This forced her sister to banish her to the moon for 1000 moons.

I came here after watching the season 7 finale of mlp Shadow Play and for those of you who haven't seen it i will not spoil but Starswirl knew another pony that he was close to go dark that he couldn't save. So seeing Luna going through this he felt powerless to do anything about it so i imagine he went to go get Celestia.

Basically its based off of mlp it's about a princess named luna she controls the moon and the older sister controls the sun..that sister is named Celestia....so Luna has been controlling the moon..bit then she becomes jealous of her older sister Celestia because everypony always sleeps when its night but in the day they're awake and they play..so Luna keeps tje moon up and refuses to lower it so the sun can come up...Luna thought if the moon was up forever then ponies would play and stay awake in the night then she turns into an evil version of herself called Nightmare Moon! Then ttje two sisters have a battle..and Celestia had to banish her younger sister to the moon for one thousand moons....So I think this Animation is based on when she came back..because her hair is only flowing in season 2 or 3...Anyway thats basically the story.
