for this character, the vibe i was getting on the "strange, nobles" "odd," prompt, was maybe that theres some sort of odd or conspiracy-like behavior with the family or even the family's bloodline. if he was made to become king even if he was young and didn't want to, it doesn't seem like the most empathetic family, and so maybe they are more "by the book" type of nobles. This could also play straight into him marrying his friend, possibly to escape arranged marriage, maybe even an impending arranged marriage. This also to me linked to his "odd" hobby of creating nsfw art, and maybe the thing that makes it odd is that instead of "ruining" or breaking commissioned art, maybe he throws a small tantrum when he makes a bust/sculpture/painting he doesn't like, and decides to smash it lol. I think it's worth diving into his motivation for making nude or erotic art. In my mind i'm seeing it as just like nude painting or nude sculptures. But his motivation it seems could be just out of artistic appreciation, or maybe dare i say.. he has an odd fixation on painting certain TYPES of nudes. I'm not sure how sexuality is viewed in mistwind, but this character is radiating either asexual, gay, or just plain open (pan). But since he's also not attracted at all to his current friend and partner, maybe he's more attracted to more masculine fellas, and maybe this is what his art revolves around, is the masculine body type, ad trying to make his creations to perfection. If sexuality is a thing that could be taboo (like in the time periods mistwind is inspired by), or maybe just to some people like nobles (old traditions), it would stand to reason that his traditional type noble family wouldn't be too keen on him taking an interest in or marrying someone of a more masculine being. Of course, just some ideas for you to maybe play around with :) good luck, i cant wait to see how the story plays out!

I'm writing a character right now who is a drow trans man refugee who just fled their family because elistree was singing to them so I've been researching drow culture a bit What I would do for this kings backstory is make it so his family (father, aunt) fled when he was very young, too young to remember any of it but old enough to be influenced by it to this day. Maybe they built the kingdom, maybe they joined early on. His father probably became king through that. His father died somewhen in his childhood, leaving him to the hands of his aunt who used him, now in the position of king, for her benefit. The decision he made was to show mercy in the war which was against his aunt's advice but because it was so negatively received he couldn't bring up the strength to go against her again, leaving him even more cowardly in the eyes of the kingdom. His father encouraged the feminine style especially because it's so taboo in their culture and he loved seeing his son grow up in freedom like that. This video was really inspiring I think I'll try rolling for some characters too some time :D

I absolutely love the colour palette that you used for this character! Drow are one of my favourite D&D races to play and I think the more magical/sparkly aesthetic needs to be used with them lol it fits so nicely!

Maybe "Odd/Strange" is just a euphemism for perv in mistwind?? 💀 And maybe the Kelas the Unconfident title is just making room for some cool character arc?? The idea of the rage room "Break Stuff" Festival being part performance-art is really interesting to me! Pinata vibes, I love that. I pictured, like, clay pots made en-masse by the artisans of the city, just HUGE numbers, quantity over quality. Or, perhaps they even save up lumpy, unsellable 'practice' pots they make throughout the year! Or ones by children, or, no, better! Ones by apprentices driven by teenage hormonal dissatisfaction like your cardboard art destroying story! Cuz like in Ancient Rome, they made so many clay vessels, there are huge 'graveyard' piles of ceramic shards where they just dumped the ones they couldn't reuse, and they reused all they could! And instead of candy inside, maybe like, tiny miniature clay animals?? That are super dense like pebbles, so he CAN'T break them? And then the shards and the little miniatures could be re-used by the artisans, who would happily clean up after, cuz then they could upcycled the remnants! Like, slap one older shard onto another, later made, clay pot and it gets that "real dirt from Wrigley Stadium" upcharge lol I also really like the idea of whatever is in the broken clay pots ENDURING, and maybe that gives him HOPE, that GOOD things can come out of his breaking stuff - like another commentor said, his character arc should totally include throwing off the yoke of his aunt's demands, and he has to psych himself up to fight her, and convince himself it'll end up okay, because he can look at all the indestructible tiny clay animals that were born, nay, freed! from the destruction he wrought! Ooh, maybe they're like acorns! Or tiny versions of the local fruits and seeds! Something with that "tiny thing that is indestructible and will grow really big eventually" vibe. OOH, I like that idea a lot! Thank you for the inspiration, that was fun to imagine :)

The “construct enemies” made me think of like.. literally forging an enemy. Maybe someone is causing problems and pinning the blame on a certain group of peoples- perhaps they want that peoples to be hated for a different reason or they’re doing this evil and don’t want to be found out so they blame someone else (For example it can be like the Director making it seem like Ballister killed the Queen when really it was the Director’s fault)

I love these videos so much! They really inspire me to start designing characters this way because it just adds so much depth to the characters you create. I feel like I personally have a hard time making backstories for my characters and I feel like this way would really help with thinking outside of the box and learning to work with certain restrictions.

this was so fun! you're really good at bringing these traits to life. I was thinking about his family being strange as the kind of nobles who are very obsessive about tehir hobbies (cause they're rich and bored?) i think i read about a guy who was very into taxidermy, and his descendants were also really into collecting stuff (a lot of historians think they were all on the spectrum, but obv undiagnosed and so they were considered odd or strange). So their mansion was just full of stuff after many years collecting! They were also pretty reclusive if I remember correctly. So I was thinking smth like that! His hyperfixation could be his nswf art lol. Anyway, can't wait to learn more about characters and story of Mistwind!

when I heard the prompts I was thinking that maybe the royal family has a sort of curse on them, and the King has a curse of rage and agressivenes, so in order to not hurt people he commisions people to bring stuff to him to break( like you said amazing idea) and after he destroys those things he fells so bad that he makes art of the broken pieces

hes giving ace and introverted. married his best friend for convienience so theyd leave him alone. also very soft spoken which some people interpret as unsure of himself, so they call him unconfdent. he can be aloof, keeping to himself most of the times. paired with his never smiling neutral face, almost comes of as an asshole. in truth he just prefers being alone, drawing, or with his one friend that just Gets Him and doesnt bother him with million things. people tire him, its why he hates being king. But he is good at his job regardless. just slips into his mask and makes the great speech and whataver and then dips the second he gets the chance to retreat to his chambers. and if you actually grt to know him better hes actually the sweetes and kindest.

OK, I fancy myself a writer, and I'm inspired here! The motivation rolls - Progress & Pain, I thought of that as like, the two opposite forces he has to contend with, the main struggle of the narrative. Orrrr, he has to work THRU the pain, to get the rewards of a stronger kingdom on the other side! To learn to be brave, and do a difficult thing despite the pain it causes, and not let that stop him! Construct Enemies - broooo, that's such a genius political motivation! Like, friggin Watchmen, the original, when Ozymandias built this squid-creature to simulate an alien invasion to make the people of the world unite! Could be more literal in this world, like, Golems or Puppets? That probably the aunt is puppeting from the shadows to keep power for herself... If magic is a secret tho... that could be a big reveal! :O Ohh, you were thinking 'enemies of construction' like, he WANTS to build buildings, but some people protest that. Yeah-yeah! There's all sorts of ways to go from a single starting point! That's the beauty of inspiration! :D

34:17 Maybe progress pain could be that he is hurting himself in a way so he can't feel anymore. Like if he "hurts" himself enough it eventually won't hurt him anymore. Purposefully causing himself pain so he won't hurt as much in the future. If that makes any sense.

A strange family makes me think that they function under Wonderland logic, or Adam's family logic. Like it makes sense in a roundabout way, but some of the things seem really weird if they're not explained.

about the 00 and 0 on the percentile dice they are usually read as the 00 die being the first digit and the 0 die being the second (rolling an 80 and a 4 is 84, rolling a 20 and a 6 is 26, etc.), it would make sense for the 00 and 0 being the 100, since we would make a 10 and any other number (like 3 for example) a number after 10 (like 13) so a 10 and a 0 would just make a 10 (and not a 100 as a 60 and a 0 wouldn't be a 600, it'd be a 60) and since we usually roll on a sheet with numbers between 1 and 100 it would make sense to make the 00 and 0 a 100, as there is no 0 on the sheet hope that makes sense :] (also i'm not trying to be mean or something, just wanted to clarify, since i also didn't understand this at first and it's still a thing people disagree over)

If you treat 00 0 as a ten, what do you consider 100? I usually think 10 0 is ten, 00 1 as one, and 00 0 as 100. Since the double is the tens place and the single is the ones. I hope this doesn’t come off as rude I’m just genuinely curious bc I’ve never seen someone think of it that way!

90 would essentially be 80 + 10! and so on with the other multiples of 10. with 10 being simply 10 + 00. some people think its backwards thinking or too much math but i dont mind adding ten whenever the d10 hits a 0 😅

Lovely video, but on the dice roll made at 2:24, you misread the result of the roll: "00" + "0" is 100 as the "00" die is ment to describe the decimals and the other one only the units. But the every other dice rolls were all counted right! I do not mean to be harsh but, you might need some practise to read the percentile dices.

i can read percentile dice perfectly fine. at 1:26 i explained when i started rolling the dice that i'm reading them with the 00 always a zero and 0 always a 10. i'm fully aware that not everyone does it this way but i'm of the group of people who read it the "other" way. you can get all 100 numbers both ways! to each their own
