SOOO i'm aware that at 8:32 i rolled a 19 instead of 16, it was just a mistake 😭 and since it matters so much to some people, i'm aware that i roll my d100 "weird". i treat the 0 on the d10 as a 10 always. and 00 on the percentile as my zero always. yes, some people don't do this way, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter because i'm just having fun! you roll your d100s the way you want and i roll it the way i want
@jester333Ай бұрын
EDIT: thought it over a bit, personally vouching this still leaves a list of possible numbers going 1-100, not that my opinion matters to any of you, now please read past me's dumb comment below. not attacking, but if i'm not mistaken, using the dice that way is tantamount to excluding ten percent of any chart you use them for, yea?
@SnomNobGobline26 күн бұрын
@@jester333 does it even matter? they did this art for fun. what does it matter that they didn't roll the dice a certain way? If you want to do it your way, do your own art challenge that way. its not that deep, bro TwT

Replacing the bones with the plushies is such a heartbreaking and heartwarming representation of their character growth. Also, having a character who lost their parents and thus struggles with grieving and perhaps also with letting people get close, love plushies is so perfect and again heartbreaking.

I can already imagine she stuff her plushies with magical totems to use them as a tiny soldiers :D send them into the sewers or tiny cracks at the walls to open passages or throw them at her enemies to suffocate them with tiny plushie hugs :D "Plushie Master Barbarian" :D oh oh and maybe those totems made with dead animal bones to reanimate them as once they are alive. Like use bird bones on bird plushie to reanimate dead bird . plushies have a purpose as a flesh for them.
@ayeoopsАй бұрын
omg i didnt even think about using them as improvised weapons! if i played them in a campaign i could customize the wild magic table to include the plushies coming to life and helping 🔥
@eyeseeyou499027 күн бұрын
I like the idea of Ren finding a dead creature in the woods and out of pity putting them in the plushies she buys (or perhaps making her own?), as you said to serve as flesh. It's just a little bit of necromancy. Maybe their goal is to resurrect their parents in a similar fashion?

Loved the video! If you’re still confused about what an Archfey is, it’s basically just a really powerful fey. In terms of power, they have near god-like power in usual DnD lore-so they’re basically demigods. Some people in a certain popular live play show have even used an Archfey as their patron deity for their cleric character.

I really love the transformation of Ren throughout the video, just learning more about the character as she's being created was so awesome to see, and the artwork is great, I love how everything comes together at the end and how the character turned out. (I struggle a bit when it comes to creating characters that feel "natural" to me, but I think rolling dice is one of the best ways to randomize and flesh out characters, especially in a fantasy setting.

You could use the d10 for masculine-feminine as a scale next time. So a 1 is hyperfeminine, a 3 is femme, but not extremely so, 5 is androgynous with a trend towards femme and so on! Love the videooooo

Something I would be interested in learning a bit more about is Rens relationship with her parents. Did she grow up with a good relationship to her parents or were they strict and imposed values in her that made her feel familial obligation to find an antidote for them? If it was the case that she loved her parents but they did not necessarily have the best relationship, her plushie obsession could also indicate a lack of warmth in her relationships with her parents that she seeks in plushies (or if she had a good relationship to her parents it could be a way for her to cling to her childhood and past, reminding her of warm memories of closeness to them). I think looking a little deeper into that can bring even more complexity to her character! Great video, I’m so excited to watch more of your dnd based content I’m loving it ☺️

Little percentile dice tip, you read the 0 of the d10 as a 0 unlike when you use it as a solo d10. Example is rolling 40 0 is just 40 and not 50. 00 0 is 100 just because you cant roll a 0. I know it seems backwards, but these dice are always the hardest to read. If you use the solo d10 rule then you roll 100 with 90 0 and that's not how this works. Hope this helps when rolling in the future 😊
@ayeoopsАй бұрын
im too used to treating the 0 as a 10 always. idk how much it affects the chances of doing it my way where 0 = ten and 00 = zero, but it's worked for me so far! i think its not that big of a deal when i'm alone but i'm still capable of doing it the "correct" way if i were with a group and rolling d100s
@Opalnut-the-Coconut22 күн бұрын
Ive seen a similar video idea used by thestarfishface, its so cool how 2 artist tackle the same video topic and how the videos vibe come out so differently! This video is like you use the dice like a custom magic 8 ball meenwhile star uses it as a spring board of basic things and she messes around with the concept until she has a character she is happy with- both really cool formats!❤

this is so fun and makes me want to create all my characters this way from now on!!! even these specific prompts were inspiring to me, and cool to hear how other people interpreted it differently. it just goes to show how your own personal creativity still goes into it. for me, my brain went in a couple of other possible directions: one day they set up deeper into the forest than usual, and ambushed and robbed a fey spirit of the forest. the fey tricked them (as fey so often do) with a false antidote because they thought it would be fun to fool her, and/or cursed her with the wild magic surges as payback (with this leading to a reason to want to find and confront the fey spirit either as revenge for the loss of her parents or to find a way to control the surges. the wild magic table for barbarians does seem more on the positive end of effects though, so alternatively the fey could have followed them to enjoy the results of their prank, only to feel regret upon learning the person who robbed them wasn’t just stupid evil hobgoblin. the wild magic can then be seen as a gift from the fey as a roundabout way of saying “sorry” (because what fey would ever admit to making a mistake?) and lead into some of what you came up with too!! wow, this went on way longer than I meant to but i’m excited to use this method myself in the future, and to see what else you share with us!!

I was thinking of an evil version of Ren, like what if the fey that found them was evil and wanted to use them? So maybe their parents still passed as soon as the antidote was found, and Ren blames the richer class for her situation, but the fey promised Ren a way to resurrect them. Since Ren is still angry at them the fey kind of uses the grief/wrath they have and Ren continues to hurt those people and steal something- blood, money, bones, etc. that the fey needs to make the resurrection potion. And so there's Ren's motive for hurting all these richer people that come with their carriages or whatever down the path in the forest she's in. tldr: What If Ren became evil when the fey decided to use her to collect blood/bones/some other resource from the rich people (that she resents for her parent's death) in return for a resurrection potion Ren believes can bring back her parents :)
