Madame Ayesha Jalal has a highly dustorted knowledge of history. She should first correct her own perceptions of history before lecturing to others.

Ms Aisha Jalal wrote manipulated history that suits imperialist powers as well as ASHRAFIA MUSLIMS of Pakistan. True history of Pakistan written by prof. Ishtiak Ahmed.

@@saliksayyar9793I am 56 now and recall my grandfather who would be 120 plus had expressed his disappointment on why people chose to create Pakistan in the first place. This coming from a Brahmin family absolutely secular religious agnostic. I can imagine that must be the sentiment of most non Muslims. Whoever lured the people I can only imagine had vested interests. It was illogical and unreasonable the partition. I have scores of Muslim friends who are looking prosperously without any fear. There are communal clashes not like what you see in Pakistan. It blows hot and cold. Minorities too are in plenty. Nobody is out to reduce their population like you see in Pakistan where the Hindus are almost extinct , the Sikh’s are still around like second grade citizens. We do have corrupt politicians like everywhere but the country is still progressing. Things are not perfect but we are one nation despite all our cultural abd traditional differences and united. To cut a long story short, those who chose to away could have also thrived with the differences.

Few in comments say that Ayesha Jalal manipulate history, we need to understand that all historian has different perspective regarding history, we all know hoodbhoy and Ishtiak Sahab has a secular ideology so they say Jinnah not wanted Pakistan etc etc, Every historian not say the things which we want to hear, their no one claim that he or she know true history, everyone see the same event in different perspectives.

She is not a historian but a writer of fiction, where Jinnah was a secular and he never wanted a Pakistan.

i think she is one of the finest historians of the world. She has been critical of Pakistan. Just because she does not bash Pakistan as a visceral need further raise her stature. Ishtiaq Ahmad is way way lower as a historian

Madam, the 2 pivotal points/landmarks which Pakistanis are told to be proud of are: 1. Muhammad bin Qasim of 712 AD. 2.Mughal Sultanate of 1526-1857. Phenomena of hindus conversion to muslim identity is a no-no/taboo.

Prof Pervez Hoodbhoy and Prof Ishtiak Ahmed have just blown the air of your historical balloon! You also presented biased history for so long. But these two giants, albeit late, have shown the light! Maybe an explanation or apology on the cards?

Madam there are 2 salient gaps in the current understood history of Pakistan. 1.history of region of present Pakistan before 712 AD. 2. history of region of present Pakistan between 712 AD and 1857 AD which only has Moghuls in the frame. And this is followed by 3 national personalities:Sir Syed , Allama Iqbal, and Mr Jinnah. Hate towards india/hindus is persistent denominator of Pakistan history. Conversion aspect is a taboo.

The more I see things around in my homeland India the more satisfied I feel about the1947 partition ofBritish India when India that is Bharat was created here and Pakistan there.. dr ShyamaPrasad Mukherjee , who declared openly that ” whether u divideIndia or not but Bengal must be divided ‘ . Mr Zinna is guilty perhaps more than that drMukherjee Why donot you tell the truth of history first before you fancy history mamm.
