Great shave, John! It seems you can't go wrong with either based on your test and it just depends on your budget. I like the fact you were able to go over your Adams apple without stretching the skin to the side. Since I lost 85 pounds last year my neck and chin area do not have much cushion anymore especially my throat, where I encountered many nicks. Also the options for handles and types of metal composition give you a few choices, which is nice too. My Black Friday purchase was going to be a Henson AL13, but now it might be the Apex AL 😊

I own both (stainless steel) and they are both great razors!

Great shave! They are both terrific razors. The Apex AL wins by a small margin. However in their SS versions for me the extra umph in the SS Apex' + plate wins by a couple of lengfhs... Have a great weekend! 🤜💥🤛

@sigsolo I really like the apex. One of my favorites. I could see you likimg the plus plate. You seem to tolerate much more aggressive razors than I can. The plus plate is a bit much for me. 🫣🤣Thanks for watching.

Fantastic shave !!!! I have both of these razors and if I had to choose hands down it would be the overlander. But that being said The Apex is an excellent razor .

@djchubbsshaving glad you agree! They are both top pics for me too. It’s touch to decide. I really loved the apex then tried the overlander & fell for it too. 🤣

Any thoughts on the Muhle Rocca , on the fence between the Rocca vs Goodfellas Syntei steel .
@Stubblemeetssteel4 ай бұрын
@billytscherne4643 the Rocca is really good it’s one of the smoothest medium aggressive razors I’ve tried. Im on the fence if I want a rocca. it’s right there on the line of too much but perfect at the same time. I want to try a few more blades in it. I’ve compared the rocca to the Rockwell 6c & alpha EVO outlaw and aylesworth kopperkant. I’m working on more videos. What other razors do you like? That will help me tell you if you will like the rocca.

Thanks for the review, interesting that the Overlander still manages to be mild and smooth despite having 0.07mm exposure (which isn't super high buts it's on the higher end for a "mild" razor). It seems like Karve managed to find the upper limit of exposure / gap / geometry that's possible before pushing into more noticeable blade feel / harshness. From what I've read most people say the Overlander is tame enough to be an autopilot razor, great for a daily but still with quite decent efficiency. Which matches up with your findings, seems a tough one to beat as a well balanced all-rounder. I'd be curious to see how it fares against Timless .68 OC, or the Timeless Slim (0.05mm exposure), or perhaps the Tatara Muramasa (not easy to obtain I'm sure, pricey top end models). How do you think the Overlander compares to the Yaqi Romulus which you've also tried?

@plumdog I’m not familiar with the timeless slim. I have the timeless aluminum & the slant. I would like to try the timeless OC but haven’t yet. The overlander has just the right blade feel too me yet very smooth. Very hard to beat. The Romulus line up is good. The closed comb was a touch too mild. The OC Romulus is outstanding. Smoothest OC I’ve ever tried even with a feather professional or schick p30 proline. I think it may be smoother than the shield AC. It’s hard to compare AC to DE. They feel different.

Hi. I'm undecided between Twig, Henson, Apex and Karve... could you order them according to your preference? Thanks.
@Stubblemeetssteel4 ай бұрын
@franshaves I will start off with saying I have the thorn & it’s a touch too mild. The twig would be way too mild for me personally. I had the Henson mild and didn’t like that. I found the locked in head angle hard to use & found it skipped on my face & was not very efficient. Again for my medium coarseness beard. If you can 1-2 pass shave and have mild hair you may love the twig. That said…. For me it’s a a very very close toss up between the Karve overlander & apex Al. They are 2 of the best DE razors I’ve ever used. The overlander is just a tad more efficient than the apex but the apex is no slouch. If money is a consideration get the apex. If you like the handles and metals the overlander is offered in and don’t mind the extra money the overlander is very very hard to beat.
