In the actual unedited interview, Donahue's statement is false that Saudi Arabia paid the oil companies to develop the oil, then Saudi Arabia nationalized the industry. The oil companies paid Saudi Arabia to let the oil companies develop the oil, then Saudi Arabia nationalized/seized the industry.

I can thoroughly recommend the book "What Justice Demands", by Elan Journo. So much focus about the "middle east" is either theological zealotry or supposed "historical ownership" and bot are so misguided IMHO. The aforementioned book is actually written by a self-proclaimed atheist, pretty much like Ayn Rand, and, unsurprisingly, expresses the same opinions as Ayn Rand. "What Justice Demands" has a fabulous history and context on how we got to where we are today, and an utterly uncompromisingly clear view on what works and what doesn't to stop this endless cycle of human misery. It was published more recently than Ayn's interview, 2018 I think, and will give you lots of food for thought about what's going on.

You probably don't know that when Jordan occupied the westbank and East Jerusalem until 1967, they ethnically cleansed all the jews. Some of these jews later returned when Israel won the 6-day pre-emptive war against Egypt in 1967. Israel was forced to attack first as Egypt had told the UN peacekeepers to leave the Sinai desert and replaced them with the Egyptian military. They also closed the canal.
