I think I’d have to psyche myself up to try the chontacuro but I have to say it probably doesn’t get much more Paleo than that! It was lovely to see Andreas sharing his thoughts. This was a fun video!

Haha I thought it would be strange and then I was so surprised it wasn’t. There aren’t a lot of foods Andres hasn’t tried but I wanted his perspective too as I feel like I’m not afraid to eat anything but he’s more reserved.

I was just in the Amazons at the ApuNapu Ecolodge in Loreto, Ecuador literally 1 day ago with my family! Our meals weren’t this typical, rather they shared how the locals/natives survive on the land and etc. Enjoy!

That is so interesting, definitely shows you that even the Amazon is diverse from cities to more rural areas.

Once again, you have done an excellent job presenting us with parts and foods previously unknown. When you were at the mercado, did you see Citrus Bergamot? (Feel free to use this question in your Live Q&A tomorrow). We haven't looked for this previously in Ecuador, however it recently came on our radar of potential interest. Thanks for letting us know.
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
I know it very well but have never seen it. Bergamot is a Mediterranean fruit and not native to the Americas. It’s possible it exists but not likely sold in markets as the flavour profile is not used in Ecuadorian cooking. But in South America it’s possible foreigners from Italy could have brought it over, so may be more likely to see it on specialty markets in Argentina. I’m just trying to think of what would replace it for a recipe. Usually it’s a mix of lemon and naranja agria. But I actually find actual lemons, instead of limes, rare to see as well although not impossible.

beautiful places in the east, really look forward to spending time there one day! Fascinating how creatively various cultures do food from their environment, but nope... 😑not gonna challenge the gag reflex on larvae!

I will take your word on the larvae but will not say that I would not try it. Always gave my kids experiences outside of what was considered the norm in Canada to eat but recently got told by one of them that I did not expose them to tomatoes, lol. Funny, I bought and grew tomatoes, so interesting how they recall their upbringing.

@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
Well Latin America is large and so between countries there are vast differences and not all men from a country are the same. In Canada people come from all different backgrounds as we have such a rich immigration history that makes it such a great country. So really I don't know if I could compare them.
