Jesse Owens is one of the most famous athletes in history. A black American, he competed at the 1936 Olympics, in Hitler's Berlin, winning 4 gold medals! They were in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the long jump. Hence Ren's line, "My mind is running Jesse Owens". He follows up with, "Hallelujah Leonard Cohen" as Hallelujah is a Leonard Cohen song, although it's been covered endlessly. Hallelujah suggesting the dope and musical inspiration combining. :)

He also was the most winning Olympian when the Games were held in Nazi Germany and there’s a very famous photo of him receiving his gold medal in front of Hilter. To say the least, Hitler was not very happy and actually didn’t attend any more events for the rest of the Games after that. Haha
