Hi girls. The 'psychedelic' part of the song refers to the 'Acid Queen'. You aren't old enough to remember, but this was the name of a character in The Who's 'Tommy' from the early 70's. There is a chord sequence within that part of the song which ends in a major tonic which is incredibly reminiscent to another Who song 'Pinball Wizard' written by Pete Townsend. Damian Wilson is an English singer who also sang with Floor and Russell Allen on another Arjen project called Star One. Edwin Reekers is the lead singer of Dutch band 'Kayak', and appears in Ayreon Universe.

Yay, thank you for doing more Ayreon. This song doesn't get nearly enough attention, I really enjoy it. Arjen is the hippie (and the songwriter/plays most of the instruments). Charisse is correct, Damien did perform at the start of the first video you watched. I have to say, you've "entered" Ayreon from an interesting series of songs. "The Day the World Breaks Down" is generally first for reacters, and it's a helpful onboarding song because Arjen basically annotates the entire song for you so you know what's going on. Across the Rainbow Bridge is from his album The Electric Castle, where a variety of people from a variety of times are whisked away to "another time, another space." The various songs detail their journey together trying to get to The Electric Castle and find a way back to wherever home is for them. Arjen's songs can be weird when you're introduced in the middle of an album because you're missing so much backstory. Again, this is another reason TDTWBD is a good entry point, as it's the first song on his album "The Source." I hope you're enjoying his music. I don't know what types of music you like. If I can get a little space on your "to do" list, may I suggest some from several genres? If you like hard rock, I cannot recommend BAND-MAID highly enough. Five Japanese ladies dressed as maids - I know, I know, trust me - playing the hell out of their instruments. Lyrics are a mix of Japanese and some English. I'd suggest starting with the music video for "Dice" and the live video for "Domination" to start. It's a song from Hamilton, performed by all the off-Broadway actors who played Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in the play (for the London troupe, the touring troupe, etc.) It's one helluva vocal performance. This one is a big ask since it's 14 minutes and change, but it's such a great song. "And Then There Was Silence" is about the Trojan War. Our channel is mostly within the rock/metal genres, though we set aside a few days out of the month to react to songs that are outside our usual genres. We will add all your song suggestions to our list! I (Charisse) am a musical theatre nerd, so I enjoy listening to songs from musicals.

This song is from Arjen Lucassen's (Ayreon) iconic third album, Into the Electric Castle. It is an adventure like all his albums are. 8 singers are present on this album and this album has been performed live in its entirely in 2019 and recorded for Dvd release. The whole live show was peformed with a slight change of singers as not all original singers were available I guess. Sharon den Andel ( within temtation) for example was replaced by Simone Simons ( Epica). Simone btw joined Ayreon more often.

THX for the reaction. The song on itself may seem a bit strange, but if you listen to the album from start to finish, it makes more sense. Great album. I discovered Ayreon through that album 21 years ago. So thank you for making me feel old 😉.

Ayreon is Arjen Lucassen's brain child. Just love his work. In the live concerts you don't really see Arjen. He's more involved in the production side. And I have heard he is a bit nervous on stage. Prefers to be in the background.
