The Eye of Ra is from one of Arjen's other projects called 'Star One', a project with songs having a sci-fi concept, sometimes referred to as 'Space Metal'. This 2017 Ayreon Universe concert was a best of Ayreon and Star One. All 16 , plus Arjen himself singing. Show closing song in a 28 song setlist. How they come together, invited by Arjen , and that is an honor to them. On the live shows, Sir Joost van den Broek(keyboardist) does a lot of the work putting them together, he is basically Arjen's right hand man. You should check out "Everybody Dies" from this same show.

Fun fact! This is not a Ayreon song but a Star One song. Star One is another project of Arjen Lucassen where the songs are inspired by sci fi movies or tv shows. The Eye of Ra is inspired by the Stargate franchise. Each Star One album has a theme that ties the songs together. The last album, Revel in Time, is all about time travel. Checkout Lost Children of the Universe, inspired by the movie Interstellar, and Fate of Man, inpired by the Terminator movies. The last one features Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers and the do an outstanding live performance from the recent 010110001- Live Beneath Waves concert. The concert was mainly a live performance of the Ayreon 0101101 album and because Floor was in the late stages of her pregnancy Arjen asked Brittney to sing all of Floor's parts from the album which shows what an amazing singer Brittney is. Arjen discovered her through a video on the Unleash the Archers channel of Brittney singing Queen of the Reich in a karoke bar in Edinburgh after doing a full show. You defintely need to checkout that video.

The guy with the hat and beard who didn't have a mic is a drummer, Rob Snijders. He's married to Anneke van Giersbergen, who did have a mic, and I think she's one of the ones who sing the really high notes. Marcela Bovio is also definitely killing it with the high notes. Possibly also Michael Mills, I know some people can hear him, but I can't in this song (maybe my ears can't hear his frequency 😂)

This was the last song of the show, that's why all singers and musicians came out on stage. The tall skinny guy next to Floor was Arjen - the man behing Ayreon. What you said about their storytelling - every album is a concept album, telling a story. Every singer is a character and the albums are set in the same universe. So it's like a musical, but metal. You should check out more of their live videos, a lot of talented people there.

How do all these people come together? Easy: they all love to sing in the projects of Arjen Lucassen. And I get the impression it is a sort of regular joyful reunion for them. They love what they are achieving together end they love each others company. No ego stuff there, no envy. Just mutual respect. And it radiates from the podium. Ayreon shows us what the world should have to look like. And I am not just speaking of music.....

This is off of Star One's first album (2002) Space Metal. Every Star One song is based on a sci-fi property. Eye of Ra is based on the 1994 movie Stargate. That album had Damien Wilson (beared fella at the start), Russel Allen (of Symphony X), Dan Swano and Floor on main vocals and Robert Soeterboek on back vocals. They did a tour in 2003 called Live on Earth with Damien, Russel, Robert, Floor, and Irene. It has some of the best live versions of the Star One and a few Ayreon songs as well. This show, Ayreon Universe, was a best of Ayreon and Arjen's other projects like Star One.
