Fantastic video, only went to ayersome once with leeds as a 9 year old in 1989/90 nearly got crushed to death in the open corner next to the seats, I've heard a lot about how bad the place was but during that crush the boro fans helped us out over the fence, always appreciated that as I was petrified.

I remember going there on a freezing rainy night once but the floodlights and atmosphere lifted everyone's spirits

I was born in 98’ and have only ever known the riverside. My dad was born in 54’ and goes on about the endless fights and how good ayresome actually was, pictures don’t do justice. Id love to have been able to see this, I don’t even fully appreciate where the ground was. I’ve been on Ayresome road in town, but coming from Grangetown can’t quite imagine the stadium. Up the Boro x

@@terryfisher3483 agree totally Terry, roker and ayresome will never be forgotten there was something magical about those old grounds, I remember my dad taking me to ayresome park in the early 90s and I was bowled over by the atmosphere I think boro beat us but I cant be sure as I was just a kid, I do remember john hendry scored for boro and don Goodman scored for us

Magnificent old stadium. The way so many were buldozed it could make you cry. With better ticket allocation and the removal of fences safety could have been brought to order.

@@ewanmacfarlane9195is this why it was essentially shut down? Due to over capacity?

Death traps you mean. New grounds might not have the character of some of the old ones but at least no-one is in danger of being killed.

The biggest danger was the big fences to stop pitch in vasions .Not the grounds in themselves

Dreadful place to visit as an away fan. Even the hot dog & programme sellers wanted to kick you in.
