Azalea Care in Pots , Save Dying Azaleas ! How to care for Azaleas ! Azalea potting and fertilizing

In this video I show how to care for azaleas. Complete care of azaleas from pot selection , potting soil, sunlight , watering, fertilizing and pruning. Get azaleas to bloom !
Did you know that Azaleas develop flowers not on new branches but on previous years branches . So if you prune right before flowering season , branches may develop but they wont bear flowers !!

Azaleas are called the Royalty of the Garden. They are beautiful but require precise care so that they flower the best. Infact every aspect , preparing Potting mix, watering, sunlight , fertilizing and pruning of Azaleas has to be precise , otherwise they either die or flower less.
Azaleas love rain however in pots you cant leave the water standing.The leaf mould holds a lot of water and it may cause root rot. Infact one of my Azaleas died only because it rained once too much and thus i lost control over its watering for two full weeks !!
Azaleas dont do too well in fully shaded areas. They require sun for some hours to bloom well.

I hope I am not too late and your plant has survived. This plant can withstand overwatering. So it seems that you are under watering it. Water this plant daily. I hope you didn't repot the plant immediately after buying !

No , please don't . They flower well when planted in just leaf compost. If you have to apply , then you may apply 4, 5 grains of DAP. If I may ask, how is your plant doing ?

Ranbir ji, sad to say, nahi grow kar payega. 45 degree mey to Ghar k andar bhi garam ho jata hai. Agar aap poudha ley aye hai to 75 -90% wala Jo green net ho us k nichey rakhiye. Ek jute ki bori ko pani se bighokar jamin pe rakhey aur pot ko uskey upar rakhiye. This will help in creating moisture. Garam hawa se bachaiye.

Harsh ji. Ab plants ko repot mat kijiye. Plant ko semi shade me rakhiye . Barish se bachaiye aur watering 3- 5 days mey dijiye. Jab upar ki mitti sukhney lagey. If you have any fungi side mix half a teaspoon in water and water it the next time. Let's hope for the best !

May be they are in complete shade. If it is true, move them to a spot where they get sun till at least 12 noon.

Prakriti ji, aap usey chaye me aur thandi jagah me rakhiye. Ek jute ki bori ko pani se bhigokar , uskey upar isey rakhiye , shade mey. Agar patkar moist hai toh watering mat kijiye. Agar bahut hot place se aap ho, toh 100 ml pani roj de saktey hai ,warna ek do din k baad dijiye. Haan bori ko hamesha bhigo kar k rakhiye. Don't place it near walls that become hot during the day. Avoid fertilising the plant now . Keeping it cool is most important now. I hope this helps. Let's hope for the best !

No, my dear friend. Though , you might read on internet that bonemeal is good for all flowering plants , including Azaleas, don't add bonemeal to azalea potting mix. Reason is that azalea loves acidic soil and bonemeal contains calcium which lowers the acidity of soil. Yes, if ones soil is highly acidic, one may use bonemeal. Azaleas are slow feeder and get all their nutrients from leaf compost.

If you have planted in dry leaf mould , you don't need to add any fertilizer. But if you want to still add , then 6 ,7 grains of DAP would be enough for its need. You can give now too.

It would be better not to disturb the plant now. A little more leaf mould would have been better . I think there is very little nutrients now in the soil mix so try with a fist ful of good compost, away from the main stem. Water it once in 3 to 5 days, just a little . I hope that would help. Yes ananya ji, you can give npk 20 20 20 . Make sure it is half the dilution that is mentioned on the packet. Usually as ,the leaf mulch decomposes ,it uses up the nitrogen in the soil. But a thin balanced fertilizer won't harm it.
