Sold my truck & trailer in June after 14 years on the road. There was just no money to be made and insurance, repairs were skyrocketing. On the good side I got a job with the city driving a box truck...home every night, holidays and weekends off, benefits, vacation are good, pay is a bit light but need more time with the city to up that paycheck. You can make really good money but your home time is more important to you, I can respect that. People are calling you out and I think that making it clear you do not want to live in your truck for extended periods of time will help people understand what’s going on. I run the spot market and I’m working twice as hard to make less money. I’m still making 4-6k week after expenses. It can be done, in times like this it’s important to stay out and run for extend periods of time, because you meet good brokers and find a groove. Especially if you are a new authority. Also stay away from FL and Atlanta.

For the Taco Bell thing, the "expected by 12:40" is the time they expect you to be at Taco Bell by to pick it up. I was also going to comment that usually when you see a high item count at Taco Bell, it is because each sauce packet is considered "1" item. But I then saw that your customer ACTUALLY ordered 60 legit items. Crazy! I have had a few where it said 15 or 20 items and it turned out 10 or 15 of them were sauce packets.

Serious question? I'm a young, retired Navy vet who also has worked in the IT field for the past 11 years. I stopped working to go to school fulltime and will graduate with a business degree within a year. I've been going back and forth (mentally) with going back to sitting behind a computer monitor or pursuing a childhood dream of being a trucker. After high school, I went to a CDL school in S.C. in 1991, but you had to be 21 at the time. So, my "plan B" was the military and now I'm here.... present day. I still have this unshakeable desire to drive a truck (preferrable, a KW900 😍). Is it truly worth it (in the long-run) in the trucking market?

Doordash used to give them an hour to add or remove the tip that was put on the order honestly, but i think they changed that now so you cant remove it but you can add to it, but Walmart orders used to be 24 hours to add or remove the tip not sure haven't been able to work in a while.

Won’t ask you your personal choice because that’s private. But in general, in a market like this, would you suggest OOs avoid factoring their receivables as much as possible? Yes, you’re paid faster, but if there’s significant downtime, as an OO, you (collective, not you specifically) could perform your own collections on your receivables, more money in your pocket and calls you can make while at home. I’m sure it makes sense to factor when the market is strong because you’ll easily make up those fees by keeping the truck moving. But now would be a good time to conserve as much cash as possible, including paying to get your money faster.

Dam that's allot of Taco Bell. Hell for lunch i picked up 9 Subway Sandwiches for me and Jesse and mechanic's since they are jammed packed and Jesse helped them get customers in and out. Allot was oil change and new tires put on and stuff. And we charged them $$$$$. And i was like hell got there order's and called Subway and they made them and i picked them up. And we had somebody up front and said they are shutdown for a hour due to meeting. And 2 customers left and said they will be back and they was back a hour later. Seen on a post that Randy Travis is going to be touring again. Hope he does tour in our area. That's cool hope he get's the student counsel. Misty she got it and she was like dam good at it also. She got a former teacher fired. Figured she had the charger to do that. Take the kid to middle school. And i took my kid's to school Monday cause i hid there key's ha ha. I was like maybe one of the dog's or cat's hid the key's again. And i was like that is what happens when u leave them cause the cat's likes to bury stuff. I had to run to the dispatcher office and look and see if that one load form Fort Smith to Dallas was still on there. And it still is listed for $300.00 no offier's. And a driver is at that location getting unloaded,. And they told him about that load. And he was like nope i am outta here. Cause dispatchers got him a good load to Oklahoma (dunno what city) to get unloaded and then reloaded back to Texas. And he is almost here he's like a hour's drive away. And Jesse was like hey at least u have paper log's and he goes that's why i like them. Jesse was like sheesh that's allot on the Taco Bell run and he is walking to taco bell since u got him craving for Taco Bell and my grandma just hollered wait for me. And they are taking a moped that is ours since the owner never paid for the work done to it. It's a 2 seater and u will need a motorcycle license cause it's not those small one's.
