How to Install A WHOLE HOUSE Battery/Solar Generator: EP800

I think I have been talking about it enough and this video will show how I decided to install the EP800 in my house. I did need professional help to legally wire the EP800 as a UPS/solar power feed for 12 120vac circuits in the house. These circuits control lighting, outlets, refrigerator, and the garage door so if the house were to ever lose power I would still have power. This installation did not affect the existing "on-grid" solar, but I do set the system up to charge the batteries with the power those panels make.....for now.
Because of the design of the Bluetti EP800, I can add more functionality to the system as I go...and I will.
Possibly, the only item during the installation I did not explain well, is that I have a double 50amp 240vac circuit also ran from the main breaker box to the disconnect to the subpanel also.
Bluetti is offering a discount of 5% with the code: "AZEP800" when you order.

James, An electrical NEC point. Your range is on two single pole 40 amp circuit breakers, not a two pole. Very nice system!

Glad you were able to find a good and knowledgeable electrician. From experience, not always the case. Nice set up though. Appreciate the video.

The midea u-shaped dual inverter window AC’s are awesome. Basically a micro split very efficient.

Not sure if you addressed it but I would put some protection around the batteries from someone hitting it with a car. Ask me how I know.

Nice system but the installation seems overly complicated. I use a 3500w Inverter Charger with a 10kWh AGM battery bank that feeds all the critical circuits in our home for emergency backup when the Utility power is down (2-3 times per year). It was easy to install. I don't run any 240-volt loads as the battery requirement would be absurdly expensive to deliver that much power (in addition to the PV for charging).

It was a more advanced installation, but I am not sure how your setup would be simpler based on your description.

Myself I added a new bigger breaker box and moved all my breakers for my whole house to new breaker box. My 2 all in one 5k inverters which each can handle 10kw for several seconds. I usually never go over 5kw of usage. In summer when Central air is running and water heater I use 6400 watts. Know this a 5kw inverter runs at 4kw continuously. So If I was to have say a electric car charger or electric stove/dryer and needed to run all at same time I would have 2 more 5kw inverters. Also I use 15kw to 20kw every day so battery size for me is 56kw usable(4 banks of 14.3kw each to Bus bars). I do this so I never go over .2C in discharge and charge. If I added 2 more inverters I would add 2 more battery banks also to keep my C rating low. Oh I could go really high with C rating but stressing anything is never a good thing. EV car batteries die after several years because they use high C ratings to charge them. Heat destroys batteries and high C ratings cause heat.

Nice install. Would you be willing to share the cost for what the electrician did? I’m in AZ, have solar at the house, Bluetti AC300, would love to have battery backup.

The central AC is 240vac and while the system could run it, I doubt it would last a full Arizona summer before burning up.

Hey James this is James I have a good question that I need answered ASAP I am trying to buy a 2000 Boulder it has 2 6 volt battery's for the house battery's can I change them out for a marine battery in 12 volt without putting one or two of them in series and just use 1 battery in use and one for a backup

Love your vids! Pet peeve of mine, there's no such thing as a solar generator. Batteries or battery systems store/pass electrical energy already created by the solar panels/grid, power is not generated at the batteries. A more accurate naming description would be a battery backup. A gen set/gas generator converts energy from gas/other fuels. Can't stand incorrect terminology. IMO makes it more difficult for newbies to understand.
@AZExpert

But this does have power generation through solar chargers built in, the panels are the fuel for it
@toddswenson
@toddswenson 3 ай бұрын
@@AZExpert I get it, on board inverter. Lol you know that's a stretch. The DC current created at the panels via excitement of electrons is converted to AC current. There is no generation from a mechanical force. Unless you see the movement of electrons as mechanical and funny thing, nobody really knows how electricity works we just know how to use it. That said, it still happens at the panels. I love your stuff and have you have helped me do some pretty amazing repairs. Respect!

The last thing I want is an app for my solar system. When TSHTF there will be no grid and no internet. I was very disappointed to learn that my Solar Edge system needs cell service to the inverter and to do anything I have to use an app where the server in Israel or wherever it is needs to be up to run the app. I think this is a scam because with these solar systems you need the infrastructure of the whole world up to be able to control or see what your solar system is doing. When mine failed there was only a red light... I could not do anything without the app. I wanted to be energy independent but am now subject to multiple failure points in cell towers servers in far away places and their electricity supply , and Internet connectivity.

I think there is an interface that could be connected, but wifi or internet is not needed on this, Bluetooth would just be wireless control which is an easier installation at least

James cranks out these videos and does a great job. He clearly spends loads of time editing and putting things together. If he can make a few bucks (in cash or free gear) highlighting equipment, then why not. I would 100% rather build my own component system, but I sure as hell wouldnt look a Bluetti gift horse in the mouth. There's plenty of great info here that doesnt only apply to the Bluetti. Thanks for the power related content James!

If you don't like the topic of a particular video, don't watch it. Pretty simple. By saying "us" and "we" you imply everyone wants to watch only what you want to watch. Learn to speak just for yourself, because you don't speak for everyone. I have no interest in Bluetti, but I have plenty of interest in rack-mount systems, and doing an installation of one of those for this same purpose, has a lot in common with his project here. Always good to see how someone else does their system.
