Hi, Pikaboubou! Mt.Mom, here. At 0:15 you discuss the Metatron’s “name drop”, so I started thinking about any other names he used (I rewatched the episode earlier this evening). When he first enters the bookshop, all the upper angels are “you lot” (or similar) and Muriel is “the dim one”, Crowley is “demon”, but he does address Aziraphale by name. In the cafe with Azi, he names Crowley. Later, out on the sidewalk, as he asks Muriel about her book, he does call her Muriel. Names are indeed rare with the Metatron, and his use of Crowley’s name does strike Azi, but I don’t think we can say he *never* uses other names. Thank you for defending our dear Aziraphale! His sacrifice and sense of duty to protect both the world and Crowley, are, I feel, EXPRESSIONS of love, not any sort of DENIAL or denigration of it.

I feel he uses their names when he really wants to make an impact or grab their attention. Or how the show wants to grab your attention for that moment. There is something important about Muriel reading a book, the Crow Road, specifically as it's not lighthearted. It was important enough to be brought to the viewers' attention and highlighted in the end. So I feel that the Metatron using her name just brought even more attention to it. My guess is that the story has plans for Muriel to develop into a much more important character, and going back into irl angelic lore we actually find that Muriel becomes Abaddon, angel of the abyss or angel of destruction. If they take that route with her, that would be so insane and very interesting. It's been stated before that Neil and Terry loved magic acts, and that 'sleight of hand' is prevalent in the show both physically and metaphorically, I think the entire ending scene is either one giant 'sleight of hand', or many small ones. God is shuffling and dealing the cards, and Aziraphale definitely has some aces hidden up his sleeve that he's not telling anyone about.
