🚨 Friends, I know you might be upset, but it’s important for me to be honest with you. I don’t want to pretend that I like this car more than the M2 Competition or that I think it’s a better buy-because it’s not. The M2 Competition is more brutal, more stable, and drives better. The engine is also more efficient, producing less and using less fuel. In every way, it’s a superior car. The sound experience is better, and you don’t need to tune it to enjoy a fast car. With the OG M2, you have to tune it just to get a somewhat fast car-that’s just my opinion. * Car didn’t have OPF i thought it had because its a 2018 *

Just my two cents between the F87 OG M2 vs M2 Comp. The OG M2 with the (improved) EWG N55 is a bit more charming because of the simplicity (not only esthetically). The engine sounds (in my and many others opinion) better than the S55, a bit like more oldskool straight 6 BMW's, and with a manual shifter this car is as close as it gets to a oldskool BMW driving experience with a little bit of modern sauce. Just put some coilovers, a better intercooler and a simple tune on that thing, and it won't be the fastest on a straight line but I guarantee it will give you more smiles than a high horsepower DCT M2 comp that will constantly skid all over the place if you add too much power without adapting the rest of the car. If you want the more modern - slightly more mean - looking (revised exterior changes and interior such as the "better" seats etc.) with the S55 engine which obviously gives access to more horsepower much easier (although keep a crankhub fix in mind to avoid a potential ticking timebomb) then the M2 competition is for you. I've driven a variety of fast to very fast cars myself from multiple spectrums (incl old and new bmw / jdm) and what I've learned is that at the end of the day the car that gives me the most emotion is the one that I'll prefer to drive, and that surely isn't always the most modern or high horsepower one.

Thank you very much for your message and your detailed description. I agree with you on most points. However, there is one thing I want to point out regarding why I said it’s not a real M car in my opinion-the engine. I have driven various M3s and M4s, both newer and older models, and they all felt like they were giving everything they had to offer. With the M2, however, it feels like they held back a bit. The car could have been more brutal, with more power, especially considering the engine’s potential. It seems like the engine has much more to give than what they’ve allowed it to deliver. This is why I would personally prefer the M2 Competition.
@zdx197Күн бұрын
@@azizdrives I understand what you're saying, the S55 feels more brutal in stock form and differentiates itself from other engines BMW offered in that timeline by being more extreme thus classifiying it in that more exclusive "M segment". The N55 might have done that a bit less in that regard. We just see this point from a slightly different perspective I guess as for me the N55 from the OG M2 (especially with sportcat and M performance exhaust) sounds so freakin good and much better than any S55 (even equal length midpipe ones). But for power goals N55 it's not the go-to, for that we have S55/B58/S58.. Always appreciate your opinion though. Your car content is cool because you really give your own personal experience, and sometimes having a different viewing angle doesn't mean you're wrong, it creates interesting discussion. It's the same with me and my irl petrolhead friends, half of the times we don't agree but it opens doors to interesting viewing angles 😁 Keep doing what you're doing man, continue not giving a F and don't become mainstream 💯

@zdx197 i own a 2020 M2 CS with the S55 and i totally understand your love for the N55. The S55 in the CS is far too aggressive, the car wants to skid in every corner to the point where you cant even enjoy the car properly on some nice tight back roads. The S55 is more powerful but having driven all the versions of the F87 (OG, C, CS), the OG’s N55 was the best fit for the F87 chassis. I’ve been looking at buying an OG M2 alongside the CS but having 2 M2’s is quite honestly stupid since i already have many other cars. I own an identical one. Same colour, also LCI. But it's a manual. First of all, there is a big fuel economy gap between ron95 and Ron 98. You should always use 98. This explains why at the beginning of the drive the fuel economy was good as it probably had Ron 98 in the tank before and as it switched to Ron 95 ignition timing it impacted the fuel economy. Mine also consumes more than you would expect, it's never terrible but also never good. I didn't really get the OPF comment at the end: the M2 doesn't have one, the Comp has it and probably they made extra efforts to extend the lambda = 1 zone and limit the use of fuel enrichment. Otherwise the N55 and S55 are quite similar and the elements that influence usually the fuel consumption are identical (vanos, valvetronic, ign coils, spark plugs, etc..)
@azizdrivesКүн бұрын
@@vladts it had 95 in the tank before otherwise i wouldn‘t have put it in. The car has a Grail exhaust system on it anyway. @@azizdrives Much appreciated 🙏 I am aligned with most of your comments. Mine has a bigger intercooler, aluminum charge pipe, BM3 stage 1, and a 200 cell catalyst, so it sounds and goes as it should have come from factory. I am still surprised by your comment about the handling relative to the Comp, because they have identical suspension and brakes. The Comp though is about 50kg heavier at the front due to the engine, and maybe that gives it a more intuitive feel. However, I am disappointed that BMW had on the shelf both the M3 seats and the B58 engine and didn't use them for this car. It would have been an even bigger hit.

@hugomota3696Күн бұрын
@@spartacus2954 Bro, do you know the octane ratio as to do with the ignition timing due to cylinder comprehension. Has nothing to do with power or economy. Older engines may required higher octane ratios because they do higher comprehensions during ignition. If BMW says it is 95, then it should have 95 only. If you put 98 on an engine tuned for 95, you may have problems because the engine would not detone the fuel at the right moment, if detoned it at all. The opposite, if you put 95 on an engine tuned for 98, the fuel may explode too soon. Both fuels have same power, more octane just gives you more resistance to detonation. We have different fuels for different engine compressions, not exactly "powers". Then it depends on the manufacteur to choose. My SEAT can run on both as the manual says, but my BMW should only take 95 has the manual demands and explains 98 does not give any advantage.
@spartacus2954Күн бұрын
@@hugomota3696 I know. There are enough actual tests on 4 different types of fuel, also on BMW. Couple of German channels did a very good comparisons with actual runs. It makes a difference exactly on modern turbo engines since the ecu adjust the ignition times and they benefit even more than an old non turbo motor. They run smoother, also with more power, therefore more efficient, although the fuel saving is not enormous, the benefits are proven.
