this is the N55B 1. Pistons and Rods: M Performance N55 has reinforced pistons and rods; standard N55 uses regular components. 2. Oil System: M Performance has upgraded oil cooling and a secondary oil sump for track use. 4. Cooling: Additional radiators and larger intercoolers in M Performance.

The Thing is its exactly at the line of when i consider it an M Car, if you drew a graph, it would be exactly at the point of when its considered an M Car, so i can't hate it, i do like it, i just want to advice people to go ahead and get the M2 Comp if they can.

@@DavidRomonti it's pointless to buy this car overpriced what is it... n55 u can go 235 stage 1 and do same thing as this car for low cost money* or better buy 240i it's slighty same as m2... m2c is the way if u want the look of m2 or go 240i b58 and take tuning m2 front and back even that way more low cost and better engine*

@@bm_wuratli6883your already thinking from the wrong lens. An m car isnt an m car because of the engine its the handling the suspension tuning etc. M cars are made for tracks not for straight line speed. Sure you can get more power from m240i its really a solid cae but the experience is differenr

Having owned both 1. M2 comp engine is not pushed to the limit it has been detuned. With a simple stage 1 remap will push 500bhp 2. OG M2 sounds x100 better than an M2 comp which is big factor in driving experience when driving a sports car 3. Interiors are the same in both. Seats are better in M2 comp. Overall M2 comp are very good value at the moment so you are better off going for that over the OG. It has a stronger engine, better suspension.

Your conclusion was spot on. The comp is better in every single way but it’s 15-20k more (or at least it was when I was shopping for one a year ago). Is it worth the price difference? Maybe. But for my purposes the OG made more sense at $39k than the M2C did at $55k. If you can comfortably afford the comp, get the comp. Otherwise I think most people will be happy in an OG

For 2k suspension upgrade that most people who buy these cars are gunna do anyways an get a set of B16s or KW V3s an 1500 dollars for full boltons you have a lighter an faster car then comp stock at around 420-440bhp from what ive seen or go single turbo if you wanna go big power an make 600+ the og m2 is a beast saying its not an M car is insane there's alot more to the car then just the engine that makes up an M car an have fun working on that S55 when something breaks compared to the N55 people love to forget what happens when bmws hit over 100k.

I have bought an m2 LCI instead of a comp mostly for the sound, and also the fact that you cannot fully exploit the car anyway (especially in Switzerland :D). And if you speak about engine not pushed to its limits, you know the g87 m2 is detuned, and the comp is detuned. I just feel like after having checked extensively, if you want a sporty car that is usable on normal roads, then yeah this car is pretty perfect. I have KW suspensions on it, it certainly helps. Looking to put a downpipe to enjoy it even more.

@@frederic_m I get your point, absolutely. You know, to me it's just this. I'm used to driving naturally aspirated cars, so to me turbocharged cars all have bad sound. So, you would have to tune the M2 Comp and also the M2, and that's the reason why I would just go for the M2 Competition. Because if you tune that, which you have to do anyway, you will have more power and you'll probably have a more aggressive feel.

As an M2 Comp owner I can safely tell you that the S55 in that car is nowhere near pushed to the limit, in fact it's been limited on purpose by BMW above 5500 RPM even though it has the potential to pull all the way to redline. However if you're lucky to get a model with an unlocked DME, then they are really good at around 500hp/650Nm while retaining the driveability and linear throttle response like they have from factory, but you need a custom tune for that. I agree that the Comp is the much better car, I cross shopped between the OG and the Comp and settled on a manual Comp.

@ Absolutely, the throttle response in the M2 Comp is tuned to perfection, like a naturally aspirated engine especially above 2500RPM

Writing a paragraph to try to feel better about yourself lol the comp sounds terrible, looks terrible, and weighs more. If all you want is power you should’ve gotten an S58 and at least not make people laugh out loud at you when they ask you to rev your car

@ The Comp looks better and weighs 50 kilos more. The exhaust sound is easily fixable with an equal length exhaust and the throttle response and the power band of the S55 is levels above the N55. I'm saying this as an ex-N55 owner, those 2 engines are not to even be compared. You've obviously never driven an S55 car so all you can say is "it sounds shit"

I have no need to try and feel better myself, I cross shopped between an OG and a Comp and going back I'd make the same choice 10/10 times. Sounds like you're bitter cause you own an M lite lol

I love your videos Aziz. But I have to disagree with you here. The M2 is every bit the car that the M2 comp is and in a lot of ways, I think it’s better having driven both. Between the better sound and the better low end torque. It feels more aggressive for a car that you’re going to be daily driving in the streets every day and everyone I know with a comp has significantly higher fuel consumption. Comparing the M2 to the M4 is also interesting because I think the M2 handled significantly better just down to the weight. Also, the suspension has the exact same part numbers as the M2 comp they are literally identical. In fact aside from tuning to steering, differential motor motor and transmission and the S55 the M2 comp is no different to the N55 M2. Definitely worth considering this if you’re after an M2, extra price for the comp simply isn’t justified in my opinion for a daily.

On the same road Aziz managed to do ±6l/100km with the comp and 10l/100km with the OG ( ±110 km total ) at the same speed. I can't comment on the N55 consumption but as far as I know aziz is the only one who compared the exact same road, at exact same speed on with both cars and strangely enough the N55 had almost *double* the S55 consumption. If you compare both videos, on the exact same road at same speed but m2 OG display 10l/100km while the display on the m2c shows half of that

​ @azizdrives I love your content Aziz but I'm afraid there are many factual inaccuracies in this video. The suspension on the OG is identical to the Comp (part numbers are all identical). Also the larger brakes you mention were a cost option on the Comp. Finally the Comp did not get any of the carbon bits you mention such as diffuser, splitters and the like. All of them were available from BMW Parts under their M Performance parts. Grilles, seats, mirrors and 788M wheels were the visual differences between both. I owned an OG from new and then bought a Comp so I am well informed :-D Anyways please keep going with the YT and IG content, I always enjoy it!

Okey aziz after watching your two videos about the M2, I've realized it's not exactly what I'm looking for in my next car. I had been seriously considering swapping my current C43 for an OG M2, but now I see that the better move is to save up and aim for an M4 instead. Thank you for your insightful videos-they really helped me make up my mind!

Recently got an M2C and it only has a couple let downs for me. 1. Interior is super well put together and I highly prefer the more analog tach and idrive 7 BUT needs better lighting and modern feel like the newer G87. Just feels too spartan inside. 2. Blind spot monitor. It’s a small car so whatever but would have been very nice 3. You oddly can’t sync the dual climate zones. Cabin is small so not sure they even needed the dual option. 4. Opening and closing the trunk is an oddly cheap feeling experience 5. Heads up display would have been awesome. It’s a driving car and HUD helps you stay focused on the road. Imagine seeing your revs in HUD would be so nice. 6. I should have put this higher but no dedicated oil temp gauge is criminal!

I really like the F22 2 series and the M2, I have wanted one since they came out. Since the normal M2 isn’t a real M-Car with a S55 (having the N55), let’s turn that question on it’s head, is it worth getting the “normal M2” over the M235i?

M235i is very soft and squishy, the OG M2 is an M chassis, it's like slicing an apple with a paring knife Vs a plastic knife. Having driven both, you can't compare them based on the engine. The m235i drives like a 2 series, the M2 chassis makes you want to push it because you can always feel the greatness of the chassis during any type of drives. I own a BMW with a ZF right now, but it doesn't feel as assertive as the DCT does, the DCT feels like a manual with paddles, the ZF feels like an automatic with paddles... If that makes sense,

@@1993jAlso the engine in the OG M2 is not the same, gets forged pistons, forged crank, and the dual sump oil system from the S55 so it's not prone to oil starvation in hard cornering

@@klaspeppar5619 the M2 has an adjusted n55 engine with forged crankshafts better cooling and so on, so it is trimmed to track performance. However the notable difference is not that big

@ yeah, but most of those things could be tweaked with aftermarket components, but would it be worth the hassle to get a M235i and “make your own” M2 over just getting an M2. Looking on the Swedish used car market the M235i and/or M240i is about half as expensive as the M2 (not that I am in the position to buy either of them). And I’m not sure that a forged crankshaft is necessary for a N55 to make 370ps relatively reliably (keep in mind I’m not an expert on the N55 and I have not spent hundreds of hours in R&D like BMW M has), cooling could also be upgraded fairly easily with aftermarket components. The suspension on the M235i based on what I have heard isn’t “good”, the question is what would it take to get it close or “better” than the “normal M2”, the M2 comes with a M limited slip differential, the M235i if I remember correctly wasn’t offered with a Limited Slip Differential. This is probably going to be my most controversial statement of all, but I personally don’t really like DCT’s and prefer either Manual Transmission’s or good modern Torque Converter Automatic Transmission’s (like the ZF 8 Speed), so I personally don’t have a problem with with the newer M-cars ditching the “M-DCT” and the lack of a M-DCT option for the M235i isn’t something that I would necessarily care about. If I were to buy an F87 M2 I would prefer the manual transmission, however if I were to buy a M235i I would prefer the ZF 8 speed. But the M2 is prettier, with that beautiful wide body.

I dont think you are informed enough about the M2. The suspention components are exactly the same as the comp and m3. Brake discs are exactly the same, calipers on the comp are six pot which are different!The N55 engine is a fully forged engine with many uprated components and its character is far more fun then the comp or M3. I suggest you try a tuned stage 2 M2 and get back to us with a proper review.

First, the engine in the BMW M2 has indeed been tuned by BMW M, featuring additional oil coolers, an upgraded cooling system designed for track performance, and a forged crankshaft. Regarding the suspension, it is shared with the M3 and M4, as I mentioned, but it has been slightly simplified to ensure the M2 doesn’t outperform the M3 and M4. Furthermore, it lacks the stability of the M2 Competition Lastly, you actually reinforced my point. In the video, I clearly stated that to make it feel more like an M car, you would need to tune it. That’s precisely what I was debating: I shouldn’t have to tune an M car to experience the true “M” feeling-I expect it to deliver that experience right out of the box. Brakes: M2 Comp 400mm front disk, M2 OG 370mm front disk. Do you think i male this stuff up?

​@@azizdrivesthe 400mm brakes are not standard on the comp. You have to Order them extra :). The main difference in the chassis is the carbon strut brace and the bracing under the winshield. The rest is exacly the same. They have done major changes in the software (dsc, steering, ghas, dkg), thats why the driving feels much different. I drove both and came to a conclusion. OG m2 ONLY as Manual. If you can find a comp with the M Seats for 5-6k more, then of course the Comp. ! Right now im driving the OG. Why? Because it was cheap and its a Manual 😹😹 . I drove a m240i before and made many suspension upgrades and I can really say that you are wrong in 1 big point. Interieur might be like every other f22 ok. But the chassis stiffness and all the suspension components has absolutely nothing to do with a m235 or m240. It is completely another car. Between the m2 og and the comp, you can feel that you have more power and the dkg is a lot of better with the s55. Suspension wise, there ist not much of a difference. A strutbrace is like 100€ and you cant feel any differences after the upgrade.

This is the perfect gift for a 16 to 18 years old it is made for them. Easy to drive not to rough, looks good, not too comlicated. Btw someone could say the same thing you said about the m2 but to an m4.

I've always thought the main issue with the M2 from a daily use perspective is that its based on the 2 series and so comes with the budget interior.
