These videos are the highlight of my day, especially now while studying for my exams (and then HOPEFULLY graduate). Breakfast, a good coffee, and 10 min of nature. Looking forward to do my first multiple day hikes the coming year :) Keep it up!

Awesome video footage. The only complaint I have with thru-hiking is that no one stops to "smell the roses" while on the trail. You've passed some beautiful ponds and lakes that would have been great to just have a sit-down and dream a little.

That's your best Arizona Trail segment yet! I loved the photography and commentary. Makes me wish I'd gotten into backpacking when I was there! As I sat parked in my car I played the music through the car stereo and really loved it! It is way better than listening to low-quality audio on my cell phone.

I've been impressed with the quality of the trail construction and maintenance. The tread looks to be in good condition and the access/transition gates are almost works of art in and of themselves. Oh, and Darwin you're cool too.

Thanks for sharing your hike. I sure miss running the trails around Flagstaff ... these are making me homesick for Arizona. By the way, you pointed at Agassiz Peak when you pointed out Mt. Humphreys. Mt. Humphreys is the peak to the north of Agassiz. Common mistake.

Humphreys Peak is the tallest point in Arizona. A very nice trail goes to the top. Was there the day after Thanksgiving in late November 2018. Microspikes were very useful on the icy, snowy last couple of miles up. It's a shame that thru-hiking doesn't have time for bagging a peak it seems, but no roses to smell at the top either.

Always best to play it safe with snow. Love following your hikes since we are not long distance backpacking folks. Love to hike and we do 400-500 miles a year, but all day hikes...so far. We started following you last year on the PCT which was great and have enjoyed seeing the Arizona Trail. Who says Arizona is all desert?

I hope when you do the documentary on the AZT you do something on those incredible steel gates. They are really unique. Keeping up gates on trails is big issue. The design is beautiful. Did the storm ever roll in or was a typical spring false alarm.

Hey D Question Why do do professional thru hikers like yourself prefer to equip yourself on your journeys w/shorts? Especially in colder weather Couldn’t you use ultra light hiking paints or be more comfortable from the elements cold or hot Oh yeah, hey D I appreciate your adventures I’m living vicariously through you yo!

Not to jump on Darwin's reply, but you might be interested in what Andrew Skurka has to say on this subject: andrewskurka.com/core-clothing-go-suit-running-shorts/ I moved from long pants to running shorts this season and haven't looked back. Since my sleep pants are tights, it's super-easy to layer.

What do you add to the coffee? Anything? Do your cold-soak ex-gelato jars leak at all in the pack? Do you have to put ‘em in a ziploc? Does the trail south of Flagstaff go near Sedona redrock country or through Oak Creek Canyon?
