Roddy Frame is the epitome of boy genius , he wrote some of the very best songs, musically, melodically, and lyrically since the Beatles , i don't think he ever wrote a filler song, they all meant something to him. East Kilbride's finest, Take a bow Roddy, been a fan every step of the way

Odd you should say that - my story behind this song is exactly the same. :) In my case, the local radio DJ misquoted the name of the band - so when I first started looking for the song on the internet, I was going in a completely wrong direction and not getting anywhere. Glad to have found it!

I first heard this song In around 2 AM in of January 1987 at a co-workers apartment after a company birthday party. It was a perfect moment and timing when the host played this song. A year later I lost my virginity to a girl that was at the party at another company party after party by the same host. I so miss the 80s as well as you Jen.

Takes me back to 1989(?), when Ana my half Brit/half Mexican 19 yr came to live with me in Chicago. I used to play this song for her. When I hear this tune I can still recall vividly the Gold Coast condo I lived in, the entertainment center with the stereo that played this tune. And in a blink of an eye, 25 yrs passed. But the memory marvelously accompanies me still.

@larskirk6268 Roddys guitar playing is what made Aztec Camera stand out, Roddy used to support Aztec in concert by playing an acoustic set as Roddy Frame before Aztec went onstage, I saw it myself in 1990. Roddy played all styles but his soloing was awesome.

Excellence put to words and music. Didn't pay attention to Aztec Camera in the 80s, and how I wish I did. I was in Scotland for 2 years in the Navy, and there was nothing but a treasure trove of liquid platinum spewing out of the fountain of pop! I'm sure they came by Glasgow, and I WISH I'd seen them! This sound has been lost, and we'd only be so fortunate to get it back! Glad to have been part of the GREATEST Generation of music-the unequivocal 80s!!!

In 1987 I fell in love with the Aztec Camera "Love" poster in the room of a friend at boarding school. In 1989 I was given the "Love" and "High Land, Hard Rain" cassettes and I played them incessantly. In 2014 I saw Roddy Frame in concert at the Barbican and he sounded EXACTLY the same as his recordings. Today I'm still on the post-concert high, so I'm watching the videos that American MTV denied to me. 1987 me is totally crushing on 1987 Roddy Frame.

Dave Mustaine (Megadeth): “We were in Paris and MTV was on. I remember I was really sick at the time, and Roddy Frame was singing Deep And Wide And Tall, and he’s just a really great pop songwriter. You can tell the metal guys that have successful, long-lasting careers are usually people that listen to music outside the obvious realm and have influences from outside metal. If we’re just repeating what our peers are doing, we’re not really pushing the envelope. 🙂
