So I have been reading up a lot on this mask specially on ACV vs water. The reason ACV is recommended is because when mixing with the clay the PH of the mask settles to a 5 which is about the ph of your skin where as the ph with water is 8 which is too alkaline. The ph of ACV is typically 3-4 which can cause chemical burns. The clay and ACV balance each other out. This all being said I’m not a doctor, dermatologist etc but this is what I have gathered from reading a lot of tests people have conducted on this mask specifically.
@monkiram Жыл бұрын
The dermatologists at Doctorly tested this out with pH strips and mixing it with pure apple cider vinegar was too acidic. They determined that you have to mix 1 part ACV to 5 parts water and then combine that with the clay powder in order to reach pH of 5
@imawakemymindisalive13 Жыл бұрын
i know water is neutral, but still too alkaline for our skin… i didn’t realize the clay would make it even more alkaline lol. this is a good point, but definitely acv still has to be diluted with water 😅 i don’t have acv or this clay mask but i’m suffering from bad acne rn so im considering anything at this point

Actually the ph of bentonite clay is 8-9, which is far too alkaline for our skin, so mixing with vinegar actually makes the ph more suitable to apply to the face, as our skin is naturally slightly acidic. If you mix with water the ph of the clay will still be alkaline and will mess with the ph of your skin. I found just with water the mask made my face itch and with vinegar it was much more comfortable, even though I have very sensitive skin.

this works 100% for diaper rash. My child had a rash that NO diaper rash cream would clear up. it was relentless. I resorted to using this powder clay and the next day the rash was 85% cleared up. later that day it was GONE. I also use it on my face here n there. :) double whammy!

I have very oily skin, especially in the summertime, and decided to give this a try a year ago and I really like it! I don’t use it consistently enough to say that it shrinks pores, but it does noticeably lessen sebum production when my skin is at its worst. Especially for the price, I recommend it. I’ve tried it with just water and with ACV (before I started watching Dr. Dray) and honestly didn’t like smelling the ACV the whole time the mask was drying, plus it made the clay thicker and irritating. I might try it with green tea, though. Also, as someone else said, it can clog drains because it doesn’t disintegrate into nothingness like other masks do when you rinse them off. I have a little mask mixing bowl set I bought on Amazon for $4 that came with a paddle-like spatula and I use it to scrape the clay off and toss it in the trash, then rinse with a cloth. Oh, and it comes off my face SO much easier than other clay masks I’ve tried! No residue left on the washcloth, either.

I add 100% organic matcha powder to rhassoul or bentonite clay and water. Two thirds matcha to one third clay. Visually my skin is brighter, nose blackheads continues to clear but my skin feels so smooth and baby soft. Plus I don’t like drinking matcha hence this little DIY 😊

I've been using this clay mask for a couple of years. I really like it. I prefer it with the ACV more than water. The consistency is better. It mixes more smoothly than with water- where it tends to be clumpy. I don't have acne but it make my skin feel and look smoother and clearer. I've added essential oils as well (tea tree, rosemary, lavender, or other) to create a more complex mask at times. I wonder if the green tea would provide and antioxidants to the mask.

I love this mask! The clay mask with apple cider vinegar and the equate version of panoxyl cleared up my skin from all acne I get maybe one or two pimples every idk lol Now I’m just working on my acne scarring. Which for the past 9 months of no makeup and following a skin care routine I’ve seen major improvements in the scarring

I use this every once in a while and I just add water in my palm then add it to a pimple and go to bed. It works amazing and it lasts forever. I also did a mask for my mother in law for dark spots where I added turmeric to this mask and apple cider viniger but only for dark spots it's not a mask I would do often at all. Tea would work instead of vinegar for a calming mask.
@AleksandraUzelac916 жыл бұрын
It should be used with Apple Cider VInegar since the pH of Bentonite clay is pretty high, so the ACV normalizes it to a neutral, more skin friendly pH. There is no fear of a burn from ACV since the whole mask is neutralized.

all i can say is the cautionary note based on what i know from the literature and experience with people developing burns
@tahismarisantiago61176 жыл бұрын
It burned my skin and broke me out really bad. The burning sensation lasted for a week and my breakout lasted about 3 weeks. So I don’t think ACV is for everyone, unless diluted with water.

I love this mud mask. Been using it for awhile. Although the first time using I wasn't sure. since, as it dries it has a pulsating feeling on your face. It makes my face really red after but I put allot on. It helps with pulling stuff out of pores.

Paris Nolen is just as ineffective as pore strips when it comes to anything with pores lol
@tmoore31886 жыл бұрын
Naegleria Fowleri I'd have to disagree.. I wouldn't compare the mask to pore strips at all. I've used both and I've found that the mask really cleanses the skin, unlike pore strips. Pore strips actually cause more damage than good and they're a temporary "fix" but I've found after using this mask once every 2 weeks for 2 years now, it has made quite a difference in my skin and appearance in my pores. I wouldn't say it "shrinks" them but it definitely cleanses them.

I have been using this for years! The price has shot up on Amazon over the years. But it's still worth the money. I mix my bentonite clay with different things depending on my skin. Sometimes I add charcoal, green tea, apple cider vinegar, distilled water, honey, and even certain oils. When I do the mix with apple cider it really cleanses and plumps my face. It can be a bit much. I should do one tonight since it's a snow day. 🤩 Love your videos Doctor Dray!
