What a fun kit. Loved that series when I was a kid. Had forgotten all about it. Thanks for reminding me Lou. Turned out fantastic as always.

That's a real heapin' helpin' of model part goodness. The extras are nothing but trouble because you have to tie them down, but oh so worth it. I note here that you don't do many ship models... rope line tying is a strange thing. You're absolutely right about the quilt, though it looks more like a comforter. You were right to persevere as the last iteration is a good one. The only things I could think of that would make "sense" are a steamer trunk of some kind and pots n pans. Sure a Kentucky long rifle might make sense, but why trigger CHPs... Nice one, Lou-- if this an example of your new, more laid back approach to modeling, then I can't wait to see you tackle a busy subject.

I love Granny's Hot Rod! It looks great! If I had the kit, I think I would add in a butter churn for Granny so she could be churning butter during the trip, & maybe a bag of yarn and needs for knitting. lol. It really looks great, Lou!

Did you miss the butter churn that is atop the green tool box? Yes, you did.

Fine work, Lou. One technique that you might try in the future if you ever do something like this again is paint chipping with a sponge. Armor modelers use this frequently, and it merely involves tearing off a small piece of sponge, dipping it into the paint with some tweezers, blotting off the excess ,and then applying it. It gives nice random chipping and can also be used for an old, faded paint effect by slightly lightening or darkening the base color and then going over the base.

I do the same with the blunt edge of a stiff brush. The trick is to alter the angle so you dont get a repeating pattern

Nice to see that you got the navigation toolboxes correct, red on the port side and green on the starboard. 😉🤣

Just a brilliant build Lou, this will raise a lot of smiles. You have to take it to the big model shows. I liked the bit in the video where you showed the misprints. Nice four candles ...........😂

We'll pretend it's hidden under the quilt. I couldn't find a good stl file for one.

That came out beautifully. I'm glad you took the time to re-scale the quilt decals to match the model. Maybe in the future, print them on paper first so you don't run the risk of wasting the decal paper. You sound more content with this new pace. I have no problem watching multi-week builds. It's kinda like your build schedule before you retired. I go back and watch some of the larger ones just for fun. The huge M.L.E.V. 5 Mars Hopper, Proteus sub, massive Enterprise D, etc. For newer viewers, I recommend going back through Lou's videos and seeing those older builds.

It's a beautiful thing, Lou. I didn't research this, but where do Granny's and Elly May's legs go when they are sitting on the bench? Doesn't look like a lot of room for shins. Love your stuff. The body colour is great.
@aztekdummy9 ай бұрын
i made sure there was space between the bench and the cab for Elly's legs. Granny's rocker has plenty of space around it.

Sorry to ask about something that isn't about today's subject. i had decided not to get the Pike' Enterprise, thinking it was around the same size of the refit A, kit. However, after watching your build, I noticed the larger size of it. Are they changing the rest of the ships or is the older the ship the bigger it is jk. I am sure it has been discussed but haven't built Star Trek in a long while.
@aztekdummy9 ай бұрын
the pikerprise is 1000 scale and the the refit is 350. I think they are more concerned with scale consistency than the physical size. at 350, the Pike Enterprise would be about double the size of the refit
