I also spent part of Monday in the Dentist chair and it was my birthday. I also was waiting for the Remote Control part, especially when you said there’s room for a car battery in there! Can’t wait for part 2!

Your space problem reminded me of a story Forry Ackerman once told me. As his home was filling up with his collection, one day his wife came home from the grocery story and, when she opened the refrigerator, she found it full of rolls of 16mm film. She announced that they were leaving the house to the collection and moving into an apartment. Maybe that's your path.

Curious if Randy addressed that side skirt issue. I can see 2 simple remedies. One, as you say take out a 1/4" slice in that blank section, or recontour the angled end to match the pan. My type of build, love this one. Thanks Lou!👍

Lou you already glued the side panels on but was going to say that you might be able to take some Home Depot 1 inch square alum tubing and clamp / epoxy it to the warped sections to straighten them out. If this doesn't have an enterior you would have room and would not see it. Also checkout guys that build WW2 tanks for weathering ideas since this thing is basically a tank. LOL
@aztekdummy9 ай бұрын
i clamped the sides down to a flat piece of marble and ran it under the verrry hot water hoping it would flatten out the side. it helped, but didn't completely solve the warp.

@markfergerson21459 ай бұрын
That might be easier to display if it actually was the radio control kit I thought it was when I read the description… With that mismatch between the sidewalls and the base, it might have been simpler to build it as designed and just extend the sides with some styrene stock or something (for values of “just” possibly = “what was I thinking”). The would mean extending the top and maybe adding some panel detail but you’d have the added strength of the internal frames fitting into the grooves. Did you even consider anything like that? Are you sure that layering on epoxy and Bondo putty will be strong enough?
@aztekdummy9 ай бұрын
to me, the important thing to align is the big nose part, so I made that work and then the "only" place i will need to adapt are the very rear edges of the side walls.

A lovely endeavor! The misalignment is a mystery alrighty. Resign doesn't stretch like, nor the molds. So what happened? My guess is that (ahem) you didn't hit the rear angle shape right. When comparing the supplied ref with reality, one can see you also left about a 1/16" on top of the window-y shapes. Mis-aligning angled shapes can have a cosign error, coupled with resinated wandering thicknesses... all of which sneaks up on you... (In the future, please do not use one side of the ref to compare it to the other-- the two sides may not be perfect mirrors, etc. plus exercizing the mental gymnastics of transposing the two images... please and thank you.) So you must'a not put the piece far enough forward-- lulled into a false sense of security by the neatness of that nice angle you achieved. Randy's image also had a mix of angles and lighting that made it hard to see what was going on to the rear there. But you are commited to the path you are one-- march quick step! the only choice is to remove some of the one side and build it back on the other. No slicing that 1/4" out anywhere. That surely would solve that problem. I only hope that you discover why everything doesn't line up-- either with the addition of new parts or the bending of the fronts and sides. Something's got to make sense at long last! Too bad about the sabre not working on resin... resin doesn't melt like styrene... maybe if there was a saw-tooth blade on it. Maybe. I say find some scrap brass from an aftermarket set and CA some 400 wet or dry to it-- you need rigid and really thin to get to the in-betweens.
