this week we start the Moebius Moonbus with the replacement resin parts and photo etch from Paragrafix and I'm building it for Mister Paragrafix himself.

Thumbs up for the ELO from the Time album - my personal favorite ELO record. Thanks for keeping the videos coming and putting your personal touch in all of your builds.

Glad you noticed that. It's one of my favorites too. I always thought it would make a soundtrack to a great movie.

I love the book, not only the images but the supporting text. Agree on the binding....crazy! Love the build so far and choice of colors. Hope you had a restful weekend and feeling better! Cheers

Just a moment..just a moment...Taschen is the publisher, not the author. The author is Piers Bizony.

Brian Johnson was a great visionary of spaceship design. I always loved the Moonbus from 2001. The visual effects are incredible and beautiful in the movie. I love that you are building this model and the updates provided by Paragrafix. 2001 was such a great movie on how mankind advances into space.

I've always liked the Moonbus even though the time on screen was pretty minimal as you were saying. It's looking great already Lou. I like the interior colors and the new window seals. I can't wait to see all the photo etch in place.

I think this one cries out for Lou doing a larger scale moon-bus with both painting and lighting.... that would be an award winner if it alternated between lighting like 2001 and natural lighting in the cabin...

Looks like it is coming together nicely.

Have you thought about consulting with Jeff Wargo? He scratchbuilt a studio scale Moonbus for the recent 2001 exhibit in London. He can be found in the Space:1999 Props & Ships Group on Facebook.

Oh, I know Jeff. He also brought his moonbus to a show in DC a few years ago. Marvelous!

I don't know if you have any old cell phones that you can tear apart but you can use parts of the screen 4 illumination or diffusion. There are a lot of good uses for it. Warpless engines on the Enterprise. Control panels on this model

Great looking moonbus! Can't wait to see the completed model. Get well soon and take zinc! I've taken zinc every day for the last 5 years and haven't gotten sick once. Too expensive to get better. Lol.

The seventh guy? It's a Moon Bus, that would make him a strap-hanger. Yep, the kit still serves, flaws and all. Paulbo does really good work, pleased to see that he never rests! Going back to a problematic kit that he's already worked wonders on is demonstration of true devotion. I well understand the lack of lighting-- but the subject does scream for it. Next one, eh? I don't know which bottle of paint you're sniffing, Lou-- but I don't see a hint of brown anything on the deck of the interior. I see a grey stripe next to a shiny metallic stripe, etc. Even after fooling around with PhotoShop's own photographic warming filters. Looks like Kubrick used a narrow passband "ice blue" gel filter for the lighting. However, don't let me move on with a sour note in the air. It still looks moon-y and all else looks very good. (Always enjoyed that wooden prospector's box-- maybe a fresh space harness for the mule's space suit?) Hope you're feeling better by now. I do two tea bags per cup and a generous dollop of honey. Either the sugar or acid will chase away the bug!

maybe it just triggered an early schoolbus memory or something but I see wood and metal slats... maybe a boat deck the wood gives you traction where an all metal deck would be slippery
@MrChief1014 жыл бұрын
@@aztekdummy I agree I saw something that might have been anti-slip-- but unless the crew are re-using those wooden box pieces.. I can't see it. And I apologize for that "sniffing... bottles" crack, I woke up cranky.

The etched and resin parts cost as much as the Moon Bus kit. The original Aurora model came out in 1968/69.

The similarities between the moon bus and the eagle you noted are most likely the result of Brian Johnson the model fx master having worked on both projects. He also worked on alien and empire strikes back, among others, but for some reason doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot like John Dykstra or Douglas Trumbull do except by hardcore fx fans.

Maybe the walking dude is the moonbus steward bringing someone their in flight lunch.

I have a few of these moebius kits unbuilt. Which means one of them I'll freestyle. Enough of the white. I'm thinking black with red accents.
Lou How long will your masks stay viable? I want to get some...but probably won't be able to use them any time soon.

if you put them in a drawer? a year or so. just don't leave them out in the heat

The interior lighting was all Stanley Kubrick, ment to make the eyes in the audience move about the scene..in my not so humble opinion two of the spacecraft in 2001 were the most plausible designs,The Aires luner transport and the moon bus.
