I bought the SR22 a few months ago and love it. The pistol feels great in the hand and a blast to shoot.

If you're shooting with a pistol out to 50 - 70 feet then you shouldn't expect that much accuracy unless you're way better than the average shooter. I've actually found the SR22 to be pretty accurate up to 10 yards. CCI mini-mag have never failed to feed or go boom. Great gun.

I love my SR-22. I use it as my carry (especially when backpacking) & home self-defense. My Browning Buckmark is nicer to shoot & more accurate, but not as easy to carry, so I use it as my target pistol.

I got a inside-the-waisband holster for it and carry it in the small of my back. Works pretty well, no one can tell it's there, and I don't feel the hammer.

If you were to hand this gun to someone they might think being lite weight first, because it is! but to anyone who has owned one for any length of time would know without having to touch it, reliability was first. If you are going to have to for any reason conceal carry a .22 the Ruger SR-22 is as far as you need to look! I bought mine because I was taking my S&W SD9 VE to the range every weekend and then some, and it was putting me in the poor house, so I bought the Ruger SR-22 so I could shoot more for less and I have never regretted it, I have 6 mags I take with me. I put a steel guide rod and a pair of TANDEMKROSS Ruger SR22 Pistol SuperGrips from Amazon. and with extra mags dont forget to grab a Hilljak quickie speed loader a must have!

Tandemkross has replacement plates for the magazines that ups the capacity to 15 rounds plus one in the chamber.

Best part is you can leave a shell in the chamber without shooting your leg off.

I love my Ruger SR-22. First let me say that I can understand anyone who disagrees with me after taking it out for the first couple of times (and still hasn’t cleaned it) and has nothing good to say about it. I couldn’t get it to shoot without failures, so I took it home and stripped it to find that it was loaded with packing grease from the factory, once I cleaned it good and took it back to the range that’s when everything changed...I have shot thousands of bulk ammo through that little gem and can count the FTF on the fingers of my left hand! I put a Galloway precision steel guide rod in it and a set of Traction grip hand grips, I also bought 3 more magazines to go with the 2 that came with it so I have 5 total for when its range time, and when it is I have my trusty Hilljak Quickie Loader with me. The actual reason I bought it in the first place was because I live a 10 min drive from the gun club I belong to, and I’m always their and It was costing me a fortune to shoot my 9mm that often and that was at Walmart’s cheap Steel cased $9 a box ammo, so I bought the SR-22 to keep me at the range longer for a fraction of the cost and have never regretted it one time, as I have said love that handgun! Actually talked a friend into buying one and he came back cursing me for telling him to buy one, told him bring it to me....I cleaned it and gave it back to him, another satisfied Ruger SR-22 owner!

Frank ! I have same issues. Took it out 1st time couple weeks ago and was disaster. Wouldn’t feed any ammo I tried. Was brand new gun. Took home, disassembled and was pretty dry inside. Thought ok, let’s clean, lube it up and hope good. Took out today, and was better but still had FTF in about 1 to 2 out of every mag. That was annoying. Hopefully it just needs break in. Cleaned and lubed again and will see next time how it performs. Wondering if I should try polishing the feed ramp to assist/improve feed ?

I carry mine for self-defense. I created my own 3d printed follower. It now holds 13+1 with the stock mag. New spring required. Average 1 miss fire out of 300 rounds. Yeah, I carry this baby.

I have the 4.5 inch model. It likes plated ammo better than plain lead. I have tried Remington Thunderturds awhile back and after 90 rounds, it took me an hour and a half to clean the barrel.

I really enjoy shooting my sr22. only had a couple of rounds not fire correctly but think it was the ammo not the gun.

Ruger says the it is OK to dry fire the SR22. Don't believe it. Dry firing broke my firing pin and notched the breach block. Ruger stands behind their product 100% and fixed everything. They even paid postage both ways. But, unless you want to be without your gun for a few weeks, don't dry fire it.

How many times did you dry fire it cuz I have the gun and I have dry fired it maybe 20 times since I had it.

Just bought the Ruger SR22 last week and have runs at least 500 rounds through it and have not had no failures. The bad thing about it you can't even hit a coffee can 15 ft away, the accuracy sucks. Getting rid of it and get me something else.

Very nice video well done. Thinking about buying one to use as a practice gun for my Glock 43 which is my carry gun. They are both about the same size and weight. I want something that I can shoot a lot that doesn't cost a lot. I also think it can be used as a carry gun if need be. What do you think.

Progressive Gun Owner I think your practice gun should be the gun you're going to shoot. The SR22 is a very nice intro pistol and a fun plinker, but it's not something one shoots as practice for another gun; the ballistics, recoil, handling are different. 9mm ammo is as expensive is it's gonna get, but really affordable; the only ammo that is less expensive than 9mm probably IS .22 ammo, when you can find it. I was looking at this pistol (or a s/a revolver) as a range plinker but discovered how difficult it actually was to get ammo; the website I order ammo through was out (this was a common issue) and the local Box was getting limited supplies that disappeared moments after it got into the store. My LGS carried plastic boxes of .22 for which they charged usurious prices (and earned my resentment for their greed.) All in all, at that time it appeared that getting a .22 firearm came with the caveats of having to search far and wide for ammo and dealing with the experience curve of finding the ammo the pistol will feed and fire, but I think that is less of a problem right now. I understand this particular semi-auto is finicky, so you'll have to find the right ammo, but when you do you should be able to readily get it online (thus helping start another cycle of .22 scarcity! Hahaha!) As far as using this as a carry gun, a lot of people will tell you that .22 is a stupid caliber to rely on for carry, and perhaps it is, but this caliber is carried across the planet and used often enough. Would I carry THIS pistol for SD? No, unless it was all I had; .22 semi-auto pistols are no strangers to jamming and for just a little bit more money (seriously, just a little) you can get a same-size in a better caliber. Get this pistol for its fun factor.

After doing more research I've decided not to get a sr22. For me It's not worth the money to spend. I own a Glock 42 and a Glock 43 which I shoot quite a bit and have got a lot better with. I have mild arthritis in my hands which are on the small side. I had a Glock 19 but I had to get rid of it because of the weight and problems with gripping it. I carry the 42 which I really like it's small, light and easy to conceal. The 43 is my range home defense gun. I am thinking about buying a threaded barrel and a compensator for it. It's a snappy gun for me so I stopped using 115 grain and now shoot 147 grain which really helps. I thought the 22 would be a cheaper way to get in more shooting. I buy my ammo online so I save a lot even on the 380 caliber. Thanks for your reply.

Progressive Gun Owner Well, you bring up a very good point with physical ability being a focus point in choosing a handgun; some people find that their ability to handle, manipulate, even hold a firearm is problematic due to injury or health reasons, and a.22 is quite often the best to employ within their limitations. Frankly, the small kick of the .22 is the most attractive thing for people having trouble manipulation firearms, but it may too often be the ONLY attractive thing; while a kick is small, one must still load and manipulate a firearm, and a slide on a .22 can be just as tough to pull back as a slide on an XD40 (the sweetest slide I've ever felt was on a CZ.) The old woman across the street has a model 19 she can't shoot and won't sell, and she has a .22 pistol that she says she can shoot but can't clear a jam because she can't actual the slide. So she has a .22 revolver that she can cock and now she's ready for anybody who tries to give her the business. In her case the .22 is a great choice, but only in a revolver. This point also includes (peripherally) the novice shooter who needs to intro into the sport with a less demanding firearm like the .22. I love the .22; I was raised on a farm and being handy with a .22 was like being handy with any other tool one used, and I know they're great fun. When I was considering a .22 a while back it was kind of an impulse based on a couple of dumb reasons, and I don't regret not getting one, but my tastes are for .40, .38, and the trusty 9mm. The money spent on a good .22 is money BETTER spent (for me, anyway) on something of a caliber I already own. I probably will get a .22, but it will undoubtedly be a sale price item.

On that note, the M&P 380 EZ is a decent gun for you and the 22 compact literately would be trigger time of same gun. That being said I use the gun for the 1st part of my range day (if I don't have too much fun and run the clock out) then transition into the 9s and .40s I actually carry. If you are flincher for the 1st few mags of 9 and larger calibers this is also a great start of the range trip gun.

I own this gun and I hate it …… Have had a lot of issues picky with ammo the rear sight slid all the way to the side the rear sight white dot came off ……… depending on ammo common failure to feed ……. After going through a few rounds accuracy drastically decreases not that the accuracy was awesome to begin with..... also if you have a round in the chamber and engage the safety I had the chambered round fire
@garyshepard7881

If the gun fires when you engage the safety, you should send it back to Ruger, because it is clearly defective. The firing pin should not move when you decock the trigger by engaging the safety.
