Aztron Surfskate boards - Great for improving technique / Reviewed & compared

If you want to improve your overall balance and really improve your wave riding technique it isn't all just about getting time on the water. Some land based sports can really help you too... skateboarding being one. The newer Surfskate boards are designed to allow the rider to generate speed without even putting their feet down, and when doing turns the body position is exactly the same as when surfing on a wave.
For 2021 Aztron have added Surfskates to their already large range of SUP, surf and lifestyle gear. But like all Aztron gear the good price point makes these boards even more attractive to a paddleboarder wanting to improve their balance, stamina, technique and have fun at the same time.

It is great that you came up with a surfskating review. I discovered them when I was looking for a tool to improve my balance on a sup. Now I am obsessed with them. They work great. On another note, surfskates have been around since 90s so calling them new design is kid of misleading, but they definitely become more popular recently.

Board shapes look quite cool, especially those rear pads… Nothing revolutionary with the spec or truck combos, but still look fun and the price point is ok.

They look quite nice. I've not tried that style of surfskate truck before, I'm using a Waterborne adapter which works well and can pump it up hill no problem too. It's definitely helped my sup surfing.

@@SUPboardermag The trucks on those Aztrons are just your bog standard RKPs. A true surfskate truck has an additional axis which means the entire truck assembly pivots laterally like a shopping trolley wheel. Normally this is in the form of an adapter like the Waterborne, onto which you bolt your TKP trucks, but some are fully integrated (YOW Meraki, FX). This second axis means that torsional input from the rider can be used to generate speed and turn harder. You don't have to bank the board to get it to turn like you would with a RKP truck, you just twist your body and the board follows. It's much more like surfing than using RKPs, although (like surfing) timing is critical and many skaters find it hard to adapt. If you're coming from a surf background and/or want to improve your surfing then a dedicated surfskate adapter is the way to go. P.S. please don't do a land paddle review. The whole point of a surfskate is to improve your surfing through muscle memory. Land paddles are good for nothing but teaching bad habits. You only have to look at the calibre of the (non) surfers who use them.

Thanks for the comment. We have heard from quite a few paddlers that have Aztron gear and most are happy, there was also some issues with the gear that was sorted by the local Aztron dealers. But, please any feedback about gear let us know. Thanks Reuben

How do these perform in bowls?

I don't think our ability is up to skating in bowls, but these are more street boards for carving. You could ride them in bowls if you are a pretty good skater. Hope that answers the question, maybe not 😂. Beau
