As when they first seen each other, (Mai and Ty Lee) they both welcomed each other with a hug and excitement. While on the other hand, Ty Lee bowed to Azula showing more of obedience/fear.

I think my favorite thing about Ty Lee betraying Azula is that everyone is shocked, even Ty Lee. For a moment it's like she couldn't even believe what she just did.

I think in that moment, she had an out of body experience. I also think that is probably a big reason why she learned chi blocking, because if she ever came across Azula again, she would need some way to defend herself.

Azula doesn't believe in relationships based on love. She thinks fear is the only way to enforce loyalty. Mai's betrayal shows het that she's wrong and that is far more significant than you might think, as we'll see in future episodes

I like how, even before the absolutely iconic "I love Zuko more than I fear you", we also got to see earlier the *other* big downside of ruling by fear. When Sokka gave orders "from the Warden" to let the prisoners into the yard during lockdown, the other guards were too afraid of getting on Freeza/Visser Three/Vader's bad side to even dare question those orders.

There is one phrase that Mai tell Azula during the Beach Episode that people tend not to pick up that carry a lot of weight. "You want me me to express myself. Leave me alone !" In that scene Mai express really herself, she is not just telling Azula to shut up but to stop interfering in her life, to stop manipulating and controlling her. That why I love the beach episode it's not only there to show how Zuko realises his mistake but to also how Azula relation with her closest friends is twisted and broken and set up the betrayal.

When they're running towards the Gondola (around 9:20 here), and the Guards firebend to them, Zuko shoves Sokka out of the way and protects everyone with his new fire techniques. He's just that awesome ans good...nope, you're not bad at being good, Zuko, you were good being bad and excel at being good, your uncle knew and he's so f proud!

I dont think Mai and Tylee had a "fight for what you think is right" moment because of zuko. 16:00 Here mai I don't think she believes what zuko thinks is best for the fire nation. She simply loves him more and doesn't want him to die or get captured. She chose to save him not because of what is right but because she cares and loves him. Tylee attacked azula because she wanted to save Mai and not because she is inspired to fight against azula or whatever
